although it may seem idiotic to most people, that's just progression of technology. eventually everything will move into that digital direction. in order to do that though, there will need to be a system of checks and balances. people may not like it, but that is where things will most likely head. one other thing that bothers me is that from the mass ignorance of people, if sony makes that move first, they will write it off as a "good move" from them and credit them with "trying new things first" when in fact, Microsoft tried it first and no one liked it. then again, they do say that "ignorance is bliss."

No, people don't mind having online, but having it as a mandatory feature to something that doesn't need it is stupid. All consoles work without internet all pc's work fine without internet. It's designed to play games, everything else are features to it. It does need internet to play games. Sure give it benefits, but don't do DRM
I was perfectly fine with DRM. there were simple workarounds to it as well. leon2365
SimCity, Diablo, etc I rest my case
counter with steam.leon2365
Still has DRM..., you can't log out for months at a time and still have connection to that service. It's the same as spotify
ive been doing pretty good. hadn't logged into steam for well over a year, and my account was still there.leon2365
Really? Strange, because many people have had to log on after a while
nah. people would have adapted, and there were simple workarounds too every "problem" people had. what really sucks is that when these policies get imposed on us again next console, everyone will accept it like the outrage they currently exhibited never happened in the first place. leon2365That wouldn't be easy to do when they stood up against Microsoft in the 1st place.
Leeets see.

these days, mostly everyone has internet access. either in-home, or via an internet café. phones require you to always have an internet connection to run 90% of it as well.leon2365You shouldn't be forced to be online for something that can easily be done offline, like playing on a console.
i am online all the time.jediknight52501
So if your net goes down it's ok not to be able to use anything? Because that's what we're facing
Bought a Samsung S4 on impulse. Finally got rid of my iphone.istreakforfoodSounds like a good move to me.
I found a CD from a metal band I had never heard of. This CD seems to be so obscure that Amazon does not even carry it. The band is called Death Mask, and the album is Exhumation

I have my other consoles to play, as well as other things I can do too. leon2365But what if you rent games that you need to finish in time and want to play with friends on them?O_o
There are so many disadvantages when a console goes online only, not to mention online needs to be standard everywhere just like offline...
