I was reading up on Anthony Flew, a former atheist that became a deist in 2004. You can read up on him here. I was wondering that, if all the thought provocative atheists and the like, like Richard Dawkins and Sam Harris, converted to some form of theism tomorrow, would you follow in their footsteps, or would you be the "last atheist standing"?

---

My opinion on the manner is if they had converted in light of new evidence for a god, I would read up on it and make up my mind. If all the atheists came to the same conclusion and it seemed reasonable, I would convert to theism. However, if there was no satisfiable evidence or no evidence whatsoever, I would still remain an atheist.

If Richard became a theist, I wonder if he would write a book refuting the God delusion :)

On the topic's note however, i would still be theist if they came over to the light :D

I would not convert simply because they did, no.

Of course I would jump off that bridge...

Nah, I would like to hear their reasoning though.

Its the arguments that matter, not the authors, and I refuse to fall into the dangerous and all-too-common trap of ideological celebrity worship. For instance, I agree with a lot of what Sam Harris says, but I genuinely hate him for advocating torture.

My answer then, is no. I would certainly be curious to hear what their reasons for sudden conversion were, but if their arguments proved fallacious then I would natrually remain unmoved. I consider my position very logically justified, and it would take something very tangible (and original) to change that.

You do know, that Flew's apparent conversion to theism is rather dubious. :P

As for the question, popular perception shouldn't, at least in theory, affect what I believe. However, it should convince even the most confident to reevaluate their understanding.

People say that about Anthony Flew but I doubt that, not that it matters though. It's not something I feel is up to debate so I'll take the man at his word.

Nah I'm not an atheist because all the cool people are doing it, I'm an atheist because it makes the most sense to me. The only way I'd convert is if there were some damned good bits of evidence and arguments for God.

Though I have read their books, their conversion would have no effect on me at all.

I see no reason to believe necessarily in God, so by default I am an Atheist.

I'll need some rock-solid evidence that cannot be argued against. So if some some athiests convert tomorrow, I will be curious but that's it, untill and unless I find some evidence

Them converting would have little influence on me; I found my beliefs on my own, not because someone else told me to believe them.

I would read up on why, but I wouldn't just blindly follow in their footsteps.
