Your favorite game of this year so far?

Mine is LoZ: Tears of the Kingdom. It surpassed Breath of the Wild for me and while I wouldn’t say it takes the reign from Ocarina of Time as my favorite Zelda, the experience was just as special. From the emergent gameplay, to the always interesting open world, and the story and characters, and just flying through the sky, ToTK is my favorite game of 2023 so far! what about you, SW? Your favorite game of this year so far?

The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom for me. Other excellent games were:

- Resident Evil 4 Remake

- Street Fighter 6

- Final Fantasy XVI

It’s been a hell of year so far with much more to come.

The only new game I've played is FFXVI, so that by default. Fall has a way better lineup of stuff I'm into though.

The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom

I've only bought two 2023 games so far: Street Fighter 6 and Age of Wonders 4. Of the two, I've actually played SF6, while I've only dabbled in AoW4; gonna wait for all the DLCs for the latter first.

So I suppose SF6 wins by default for now.

This year has been good to me as I'm racking up on my top 10 list for 2023 but that won't be done will December 2023 though.

Can't say which as been the best but here are my favorite games for 2023:

• Forspoken (Though this is going into my top 10 as of now)
• Ravenlok
• Resident Evil 4
• Dead Space Remake
• Star Wars: Jedi Survivor
• R-Type Final 3: Evolved (PS5 exclusive)
• Returnal PC
• Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom

Right now, Dead Space Remake & Jedi Survivor are both my favorite games I'm enjoying of 2023. (But if I must pick one, it's Jedi Survivor as of now since 2023 isn't over yet and more games haven't released yet)

3. Hogwarts Legacy
4. Fire Emblem: Engage
5. Final Fantasy XVI

Remnant 2 & Forza Motorsport. And I haven't played either yet, I just know they are my Jam.

I have to say its a toss up between Hogwarts Legacy, RE4 and Remnant 2

I still have to finish Pikmin 4, but it's between Pikmin 4 and Street Fighter 6 right now. Both are delivering in spades.

Tears of the Kingdom is among my biggest disappointments in some time. Especially considering Breath of the Wild is my all time favourite game. Everything that made BOTW special and so progressive as an open world experience was done away with in favor of elements I did not care for. It was worse than its predecessor in basically every single way in my eyes.

For like the 12th year in a row, still The Binding of Isaac.

Nobunaga’s Ambition Awakening is my favourite game so far this year. I love how it is difficult to understand, much like the first game in the series was.

I can appreciate FF16 and I do not regret buying it but I could not get too into it as I was addicted to MLB The Show 23.

has to be re4r, although this year ive rediscovered deathloop and all the additions arkane made since launch (technically the last major update came late last year). my opinion on it has changed considerably for the better since playing when it first released

Its guaranteed to be BG3, and i am expecting it to be my GOTY as well. With some games, you really don't need to play them to know that they're amazing or a mess.

3) Returnal 2) RE4 remake 1) Jedi Survivor

Resident Evil 4 remake by far.

Probably Bayonetta Origins. Pikmin 4 is awesome too.

1. Resident Evil 4 Remake. This game is in a league of its own for the year. I'll place it along side The Last of Us 2, Elden Ring and God of War Ragnarok as the 3rd or 4th best game of the decade so far.
2. Final Fantasy XVI - The best Final Fantasy since FFX, on par with FF7 remake. Most spectacular game ever but with some really weak points.
3. Dead Space remake - excellent game. Not quite a masterpiece. stunning graphics on 4090.

I think Armoured Core VI and maybe Baldurs Gate 3 will complete my top 5.

Maybe Starfield could be top 5 or even top 3. might be a horrible flop.

Spider man 2 I think I know exactly where it will be. Top 6, but not top 3.

Hi-Fi Rush and Star Wars Jedi Survivor so far.

FFXVI and TotK are by far my favorites so far.

I also really enjoyed RE4 Remake and SF6, which are also excellent games.

It's been a great year so far, and there are still promising new releases like Armored Core 6, Spider-Man 2, and Super Mario Wonder waiting to come out. Crazy, haha.

Dead Space Remake

is jedi survivor that good? felt like it launched to tumbleweeds on this board. cant even recall any discussion about it

I honestly thought it would be more Jedi Fallen Order, and was fine with the idea.

But it's a perfect sequel, it really expands and adds on top of it. It even allows you to pick a favourite combat stance, of which there are a lot. And this in turn reminded me a lot of the combat in Ghost of Tsushima.

Diablo IV has been my favorite game so far. I can't get enough. But, that will change next month, as I am 100% confident that Starfield will occupy my gaming time for the rest of the year.

@R4gn4r0k: good to know thanks man. i suppose releasing at a similar time to sf6, d4 and ff16 will mean you fly under the radar a bit. i'll pick up once the price comes down a bit. still £55 on amazon

TOTK and RE4R, BG3 is more than likely going to be in the running too once it releases.

As for me, i guess it would be RE4R, but i've enjoyed a bunch of indie games on gamepass, and ghostwire tokyo is turning out pretty decent too.

Finally got around to Hitman 3 and it’s the top spot for now. This is a backlog year for me until Spiderman and Starfield come out.

Definitely Tears of the Kingdom. Resident Evil 4 Remake and Metroid Prime: Remastered were also perfect. These three are the only 2023 games I have played so far. I’m currently in a retro mood and don’t know when I will play more from this year.

Yup, RE4R was definitely a highlight, I only wish it didn’t make me motion sick so I could play the PC version.

Tie between RE4R and Pikmin 4 for me. It’s a great game, but I’m tending towards Pikmin 3 as being better.

Story of Seasons: Friends of Mineral Town. I picked it up on Game Pass and I love it.

Resident Evil 4 Remake is defintly my favourite by far. Though I'm confident that Starfiel will be my favourite once it releases.

Elden Ring (I'm only playing it this year :P)

Tears of the Kingdom second although I still find it quite overrated just like BotW, despite good. Definitely not the 10/10 everyone claims about. Shrine "puzzles" have been waaay less challenging than BotWs thus far and it relies too much on the building mechanics

Lol. BG3 is #2. my Favourite game of the year is still Resident Evil 4 remake (never played the original so this was a completely new and... original experience for me.).

BG3 after just under 50 hours is now 2nd place. We'll see how the year ends. It has certainly surpassed Dead Space remake and Final Fantasy 16 which were my third and second best games of 2023 respectively.
