That's awesome, and if it surpasses the first one, which i think is almost impossible considering it is the best 2D platformer ever created, .. no, wait, my mind cannot comprehend Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island being surpassed.Lucianu

I'm definitely buying a 3ds.

What are the skus and prices if its not too much to ask and is there another expected sku coming this year?

3DS $140 vs 3DS XL $200. Edit: apparently OG 3DS is $160 in NA

You want the XL because everything is better. Stylus placement, battery life, PERFECT DS backwards compatability, PERFECT emulation of GBA games, perfect d-pad (3DS original's d-pad is useless), stylus is plastic = more comfortable (as opposed to metal on the OG SKU).

The only downsides to XL is less portable (duh) and the slightly more pixelated look on 3DS games due to a stretched image. 

Imo the 3D effect is much better on XL aswell.

No new SKU has been announced but there could be a 3DSi Q3 2014. The chances for that are fair imo. Although I don't know what they could add to make you go "damn I should have waited for this".

I can't wait Yoshi's Island is my favorite 2D Platformer; I didn't play Yoshi's Island DS.

level design ranging from average to good. Crap music. I would only recommend it to platformer fans since it's merely alright, nothing special.

This is not a remake, third installment in the Yoshi's Island series

I hope it's more like the original, that game was godlike.

They might also just get Arzest which is comprised of former Artoon employees and Nintendo worked with them for Wii Play: Motion they were one of the 9 developers of Wii Play Motion; They also did some of the StreetPass Mii Plaza features on the 3DS for Nintendo.

Iwata explicitly made it clear it's the 3rd installment in the series

Looks extremely samey compared to the original, but that isn't necessarily a bad thing. I do feel like they could have at least put some original environments and at least looked a bit less like a rehash. But I shouldn't be picky. It's a 3DS game I'm actually looking forward to, so that's something.

I've wanted a true sequel to the original since the mid 90s.  This looks like it may be it.

New IPs are great, but at this moment they can go f*ck themselves.  I know what I like and it seems some damn good looking sequels are being announced.

The one time I don't watch the conference all this major news happens...

i'm not really liking the 2d/3d mixture. it doenst seem really good that the 3d characters are mixing in with the 2d background.

I heard from people that the DS one was disappointing. Still I am looking forward to this since it's not another NSMB.

I can agree to this.  I would prefer some straight up 2d games, I really dont like that almost every 2d game just has to utilize 3d models.  Even the NSMB games would have been cooler in pure 2d.

Hmm, while I am very sore that there is as of yet no Majora's Mask 3D; this has somewhat softened the blow a little.

Yuck, I never liked the SNES game, and this one looks even uglier.

Not in love with the new art direction but if Nintendo is developing it Im so on board. Artoon didnt do too well with YI DS.

Agree with everything you said... just wanted to point out that the image difference, in terms of pixelation, on the 3DS & 3DS-XL is very minimal.... I have a 3DS, my son a 3DS-XL... and the benefits of the larger screen far outweigh the one minor negative. Also, do you know if the 3DS-XL has a 3rd party extended battery pack? I have one for my 3DS, so I get 8-10 hours out of it.... I would definately want one for my XL.

Nintendo always delivers with their handhelds. That's a damn guarantee.
