We support 8 different languages across the 13 launch territories, not 5.

Why?freedomfreak
Why can't you speak and understand more languages? (Hint, its the same reason why the xbox will only support 5 languages)

op says 5 countries not 5 languages. if you include irish, welsh and scottish that could bump it up to 8 languages although id doubt theyd code those as english is more widely used in those countries.

Microsoft is going to fall flat on their backside, Microsoft "hmm what happened" Said Microsoft "what went wrong we treated our customers like criminals, we told them to bugger off if they had crappy internet or no internet all and just stick with the xbox 360, and now we have decided not to release the xbox one in some country's hmmm why are they angry about that ohhh also forgot we decided to release the Kinect 2.0 with the voice feature with the xbox one in just five countys oh well the country's like Australia and New Zealand can still pay the extra $100 for the kinect that only half works and at most a device that most people don't want anyway yea our business practices are 10/10" microsoft said.

Microsoft has not said any of that but how they are conducting business you wonder why they are dropping the ball in the Hardware market for them it's gone from bad to worse, Nice work Microsoft you doing good job of ticking consumers who want the xbox one with a device that most people don't want and only half works.

Updated with response from microsoft

taken from gamespots article (which has been updated)

Voice control will be available in 10 of 13 launch regions, though "Xbox On" voice command only supported in five regions at launch.

http://uk.gamespot.com/news/xbox-one-voice-commands-not-available-in-all-regions-at-launch-6413828

[UPDATE] Following the publication of this story, Microsoft issued a statement on the matter. Voice control will be available in 10 of the Xbox One's 13 launch markets, though the specific "Xbox On" voice command will only be available in five regions.
"Our vision is to bring conversational voice control and voice search to every country where we sell Xbox," a Microsoft representative said. "At Xbox One launch, we will offer voice control in 10 of our 13 launch markets, with eight total languages: English US, English UK, French, Spanish MX, Spanish ES, Italian, German and Portuguese. There will be some voice experience variations in different markets at launch; the 'Xbox On' voice command will only be available in five markets (United States, United Kingdom, Canada, France, and Germany) and will come to others in the near future."

"There are many complexities associated with delivering a great voice experience around the world, and were working hard to add more voice features and more countries; well share more details in the future."
