I don't think I will. Way too many consoles have broken down and MS and Sony refuse to deal with the problem properly by fixing it for free.

I'm willing to pay more than $300 when I think the console will last at least 5 years but if it only last 3 years and I paid $500 for it......THAT is a ripoff. I bought a ps3 for $500 and it lasted a little under 3 years. I thought it would last at least 5 years seeing as my ps1 which I have owned over 10 years still works and my ps2 which I have owned for about 9 years still works fine.

I may buy another ps3 but not for more than $200 which you can find on ebay. I have also considered just making a cheap pc that can play some games for under $150. Anyway I would buy one of the two to keep me occupied till the next gen consoles dropped in price to around $300 before I consider buying a recently released console from one of these two companies.

If it comes out in 2013, that price seems VERY reasonable.

I would pay $350 for either at launch. But I'm probably not buying at launch, so I'll just wait and pay $300 down the road.

$300 is right on the spot. And since i wont be buying a next gen console until around 2014-2016, a $250-$199 price point by that time would be perfect!

To answer the question, I'd only get a PS4.

I will pay 400 dollars max, thats if it has a much higher end GPU then this generation of consoles. I want something comparable to a GTX 260 in next gen consoles.

I don't mind paying $400 or $500 if it last 5 years or more so that away I'm paying $100 a year to play the console. That is fair to me. I have a feeling that I will be more than content for awhile playing current gen games online for along time to come till prices on the new stuff drops to a good price.

I know the first year they start to release new consoles I definitely won't be one of the first people to buy one becuz the price drops come quick and after what happend this gen there is just way too many problems that can occur and when they do its more money coming out of your pocket to fix and often times its not cheap to fix.

I paid $399 for my PS3. I would perhaps pay $450 for a next gen console (considering inflation).

If it's much more powerful & has a lot of good specs than the ones from this gen, such as GPU, etc. then definitely.

But I will spend no more than $400 max.

I'll probably spend what ever MS wants me to depeinding on the launch lineup, and how my finances are when it comes out which are likely fairly good.

W/ the ps4 I might wait until a price drop since sony systems take a few years to mature a good lineup. The only reason I bought a ps3 so soon was that they were getting rid of BC, and I wasn't going to spend $100 on a ps2... so I spent $500 on a ps3.

By the time PS4 and "720" comes around there will already be something better than crysis which they won't be able to play. The only console i could recall that could keep up with the pc in terms of visually demanding titles were the original xbox

Microsoft should call it the XBOX 460. Just take the iteration the Playstation is on and put 60 behind it, like they did for PS3, XBOX 360. Then we'll have PS5 and 560, PS6 and 660, and PS7 and XBOX 760.

I would be surprised if they did release these consoles at $400 becuz I think they will want even more money than that. I think its going to be $500 or more for one of these consoles that has yet to be released.

As you know I won't be buying at that price.

Depends on the quality of the console. I paid $600 for my PS3 and still think it was worth it. I paid $450 for my 360 Elite and think it was fairly worth it, despite having to send it in twice.

If I remember correctly I was playing time splitters future perfect on my ps3 when ps3 first came out but after about a year or so after the ps3 was released you could no longer play the game online. Not sure if it was sony or the company that made time splitters that cut off the online play but if most the ps3 games get the online cut off after a year or so once ps4 is released than I will simply switch to getting a cheap pc that can play pretty much all the multiplat games released for ps3 and 360 during their life span and those will probably still have online play on the pc. Seeing as I have heard that the pc servers are different.

I was playing time splitters future perfect becuz I was never all that impressed with resistance.

So don't try to screw me again sony cause it won't work twice

It'll depend on how much value for the dollar it is. I considered my $600 PS3 to be a great value. Stand alone BR players at the time were around $1000. The closest comparable console, the 360, was cheaper, but many of the features I desired (wifi, online gaming, hi-def movie player) cost extra, and would have made the 360 cost over $600 at the time as well. When the PS4 comes out, will it be as good of a value? I don't know. I'll already have a bluray player and an online enabled console. If they constinue support for the PS3 with new games, I may just stick with it for awhile. If the PS4, on the other hand, has loads of new features that I consider to be worth the cost, then by all means, I'll buy one, even if it is over $300. As far as your point about consoles not lasting more than a few years, I've yet to have a Sony console break on me. Or a Nintendo console, for that matter. I still have working consoles going back as far as the NES.

I always wait for the price to drop to ~$250. I never buy a console at release anyway because there are almost always problems that occur in the first production batch.

im actually pretty cheap, but even id pay more than 300, max would be $399.99, though. the ps3 tried going over 400 though and did terrible in sales when it first came out, so hopefully 400 is the "right" price point they'll both use next gen

Their not that far from that now visually, the GPU is weaker but the way consoles work you are getting a picture at a resolution close to what the GTX 260 offers.

$300 is really cheap, but next generation, I'm waiting it out a little bit. I don't want to see the Red Ring of Death again.

I'm going to stick with PC gaming, and probably end up getting Nintendo's next console a year after launch (My guess).

I definitely will get the next Nintendo handheld.

Well since anyone who bought a PS3 in the UK at launch paid like 600-800 dollars, I'd say most of us would be quite happy if they were only 300.

The PS4 is guaranteed to be good, because they actually have first party support. Who knows what developers will leave (Or perhaps join) Microsoft?

I payed $400 for my xbox and $600 for my ps3 so if the next batch of systems are even cheaper at launch it would be quite welcome. It would rock too if both had awesome launch games but that would be asking too much.

Yup things drop quick. Wonder if PS4 and Xbox 720 will be able to play crysis?

They will easily be able to play Crysis, but what does that matter, by then Crysis 2 or Crysis 3 will be out, and this place will flood with "Game x on 720 looks better than Crysis 3" :P

I can tell im getting farther and farther away from gaming as I voted NO and the majority voted YES. This gen has killed my love and passion for gaming.
