Poll Would a new Prince Of Persia game interest you more than another Assassin’s Creed? (77 votes)

Yes 71%
No 14%
Don’t care 14%

A new revamped POP is long overdue.

The old AC games out stayed its welcome snd the new AC games are witcher wannabes. Give us something new. Take some risks damn it.

No.

Sands of time was ok. but every other game after that suck and POP 08 is worst than any of AC game. too easy where you cant die and almost no combat but only pressing buttons ie QTE.

Yes. I enjoyed even PoP 08 more than Assassin's Creed. But they should follow the Sands of Time template if by some miracle they decided to make another one.

Only if they go back to the drawing board. Don't let the prince speak much or at all. Don't make him freaking cool. Don't create a whole cast of characters to interact with the prince. You only need a few and they don't need to be on the side of the prince. Keep it a little more grounded and serious, but grounded in a semi-fairy tale. Bring back the traps and add some exploration and secrets, and make the combat just one of the many challenging things on your path. Not the main focus.

Then I would be very interested.

Alternatively, reboot Assassin's Creed and remove the futuristic elements. Just create a more historical Assassin's Creed game that is entirely its own story. Don't mention the Animus or the other parts. Create new stealth mechanics and have that be the focus of the game. It can be interwoven into big historical events but there is little reason for it to be and I think it mostly detracts from the game.

@ghosts4ever: Hey, Warrior Within was a better game than Sands of Time.

It lost some of the charm, but the level design, set pieces, and core gameplay were top-notch.

warrior within trying to be too edgy. no way it was better than Sands of time.

sands of time has pretty good story and conclusion of how prince finally killed vazier and rewind a time.

I'm not exactly into action platformers so nope. Uncharted being an exception. But that's just my personal preference.

I prefer depth in games, and I like what Ubisoft did with AC post Origins.

Warrior Within was extremely dissapointing. They went from a perfect blend of action, puzzles and platforming and replaced it all with action. With an emo theme. It lost all the charm, was much more one note and similar to other generic games. Hated it.

@Litchie: warrior within was epic for me. The combat was much deeper. The game was harder and longer. The music was epic and got me hyped. The prince looked bad ass. And running away from dahaka is one of those moments in video games that still haunt my dreams from time to time.

SOT had charm, yes. But it lacked depth. I never felt compelled to go back and try to master the game.

I'm very interested in a new Assassin's Creed set in Rome or with a Viking setting.

A more linear 3D style platformer, something like POP, would interest me very much as well.

Ubisoft has all these studios, why can't they do both?

I agree.

Sands of time was great because it had an amazing story, the platforming was good and the time rewind mechanic was a very cool gimmick.

WW however refind what was there. Had awesome platforming and combat, but lacked a story that was as impactful as Sands of Time.

Never got to play the Two Thrones because the PC version was unplayable crap. And the PS3 remaster was so awful (reverbed sound) that I had to sell the game. And I've never sold a single game in my life before.

Would like a series reboot but Ubisoft seems to have replaced the series with assassins creed. Not sure how well a prince of Persia would sell in today's market.

Yes n no. Yes more than ass creed, no as in I would be super interested. Prince of Persia Sands is Time while good, is hardly some bastion of depth. In fact it very much was the harbinger of this cinematic platformers shit with all the boring ass climbing in games.

At least back then it was a gameplay loop, but pop 08 left a lot to be desired, and modern ubi? Nah.

I used to love AC but they've run it into the ground. I'd enjoy a new PoP game... not that odd VR thing though.

Yes. Forget just Prince of Persia, Forgotten Sands has some of the best platforming in any game period. If they could build off that it would be great.

Origins and Odyssey are generic lame RPGs anyways. There's no connection between Pop and AC anymore.

No interest in either TBH. I have a good idea what another POP game will turn out like, the last few weren't great including SOT and I haven't been interested in an AC game since Black Flag.

If it could be something new, but I suspect with Ubisoft that any new Prince of Persia game would just be an Assassin's Creed clone with a different name.

PoP. Started up some AC Origins again, because I couldn't get through it the first time, and i'm struggling again. No, I don't want to ride hundreds of feet, to the same bandit camp that I decimated for another sidequest.

@R4gn4r0k: Oof, I was massively disappointed with The Two Thrones.

It was a classic reactionary big-business move - fans were upset with Warrior Within's tonal shift, so instead of improving on the formula, they just remade Sands of Time (but worse).

It offered nothing new, story-wise, and the gameplay additions were mostly awful (weak stealth gameplay, quick time events, and trial-and-error chariot sequences). The only improvement was the free-running aspect, which was a precursor to Assassin's Creed.

Also, wow, I forgot that The Forgotten Sands existed. Did I play that? I vaguely remember hordes of sand skeletons, but that's about it. If I did play it, the game had zero impact on me.

Considering Ubisoft would probably turn it into another "liiiiiiive service" game, I'd much rather them just leave the franchise dead.

I know a lot of people like PoP but I was never able to get into those games; I would like to see a new AC game.

AC is a consistently good franchise with maybe one or two questionable installments; that's a pretty good track record for a series with as many games to its credit.

Would rather have nothing. Two things keep me from being interested.

1) it’s Ubi. The game would have to be compromised for monetization which would ruin it.

2) secondly, and far more importantly, it would depend on Mechner’s involvement. If he’s not in, there’s zero interest from me. His influence was palpable in SoT, and absence glaring in all of its sequels.

Well, they're all the same. Hard to fail when you copy/paste your games. All they do is basically change the theme, tweak some things, then slap it onto the market for full price. It's in Egypt now, woot! Now it's in Greece, woot woot! Can't wait to do the same thing in a viking setting or whatever the hell they're doing next. It's almost The Sims level of ridiculous.

True. But I still believe Ubi has talent left and that they can make a good game if they want to. Look at the latest Rayman games, they were fantastic. But yeah, a new game in the PoP name would probably be monetized.

You should replay the Sands of time, I think it's a game that holds up very well to this day and I only finished it for the first time like 2 years ago.

That is exactly what Beyond Good and Evil 2 was going to be until Ubisoft tightened its grip around the game. Now its an MMO with live service probably being thrown in it.

I disagree. While the evolution has been gradual, the AC games are significantly different from where they started to where they are now. AC was a stalk and ambush game, more or less up until AC 3, then they changed it up to a more action-focused game culminating with AC Origins, which completely changed the formula, and then they perfected it with AC Odyssey.

Yes, there might be some classic gameplay elements in there such as the hidden blade, leap of faith, and so on, but the games play completely different from where they were five games ago, and five games before that.

I do agree though that it is getting a bit stale at this point; I'd really like them to wrap the franchise's story up in the next couple games with maybe a "prequel" game (that takes place during the precursor era) and a modern-era game that takes place during the present day/near future.

I'm no fanboy but you can't sit there and tell me AC 1 plays exactly like AC 2 and AC 2 plays like Syndicate and Syndicate plays like Origins.

Not too sure, doesn't seem all that involved in the industry much nowadays. Wish he'd return, dude's got talent.
