AC is a consistently good franchise with maybe one or two questionable installments; that's a pretty good track record for a series with as many games to its credit.
Well, they're all the same. Hard to fail when you copy/paste your games. All they do is basically change the theme, tweak some things, then slap it onto the market for full price. It's in Egypt now, woot! Now it's in Greece, woot woot! Can't wait to do the same thing in a viking setting or whatever the hell they're doing next. It's almost The Sims level of ridiculous.
I disagree. While the evolution has been gradual, the AC games are significantly different from where they started to where they are now. AC was a stalk and ambush game, more or less up until AC 3, then they changed it up to a more action-focused game culminating with AC Origins, which completely changed the formula, and then they perfected it with AC Odyssey.
Yes, there might be some classic gameplay elements in there such as the hidden blade, leap of faith, and so on, but the games play completely different from where they were five games ago, and five games before that.
I do agree though that it is getting a bit stale at this point; I'd really like them to wrap the franchise's story up in the next couple games with maybe a "prequel" game (that takes place during the precursor era) and a modern-era game that takes place during the present day/near future.
I'm no fanboy but you can't sit there and tell me AC 1 plays exactly like AC 2 and AC 2 plays like Syndicate and Syndicate plays like Origins.
