1st option: Try to make W3 run as best it can (shit) while looking as close to the other versions it can (not even remotely close).

2nd option: Make it look different and run great on the Switch.

I'm about 98% sure they'll go with option 1. The Ubisoft choice.

@Litchie: It would be interesting to see a cel-shade version on the switch. The game already has an oil paint vibe to it, something special could be made.

Exactly. AC3 could run and look great on Switch. It's just Ubisoft who isn't capable or willing to pull it off. Ubisoft has shown with a lot of games they have no idea how to / care to get a game to run good on the hardware it's on. Their AC games drop to 15-20 fps on the latest consoles. I don't see anyone complaining much about it either, so why bother making your games run better if your consumers and even reviewers aren't even noticing?

Stop with the delusions. Recent Saints Row 3 and Dragon Dogma port is shite on graphical upgrade as well.

dynamic 540-720p handheld, mix of low and med settings. lock to 20-24 FPS. I personally won't mind that.

GPD Win 2 Witcher 3. I expect it to be better than that.

Interested to see how they fit a game that size on switch. Probably a lot of low res textures 540 docked a scruffy 720 handheld.

The Switch can't handle the Witcher 3. It will look and probably also play like a mess. Playing the game on the xbox one x or a capable PC is the only way to do the game justice.

If it runs good I might double dip, have been meaning to play it again at some point and have an upcoming 5 week vacation on Bali with our newborn, so should be a lot of downtime to play in:)

It seems like such a terrible combination. When I think of the Switch, the last thing I imagine is a game like the witcher 3 lol.

Very interested in seeing how it turns out. Anyway I have the game plus the dlc for it on the Xbox One and had a fantastic time playing through it but that’s probably enough for me so I don’t think that it’ll be something that I would double dip on.

I think if they remade the entire game with Nintendo-esque style then it would work. A downgraded version will just be insulting.

If the Switch can run Hellblade, it can run the Witcher 3 as well and this rumor has been talk for some time, I just want everyone to experience Witcher 3 cause it's really a good game and one of my favorite this gen has to offer.

I've had the game on PC (and PS4) for years. Good game & love it, but it's not the type of game I'd buy on Switch. Too much would have to be downgraded. Also, the game's price would would be way higher than on other platforms.

Eh, Ubisoft is actually one of the best companies at optimizing their games (let's forget AC: Unity here for a minute).

It's just that AC III was a zero effort job by them, apparently on every platform.

Um.. what? If that was true, why are their AC games running like crap on consoles? Can't really say I'm impressed by how their PC ports run either, but it's less noticeable if you've got great hardware.

If CDPR want to invest time and money into making a port work, it'll work. It might even look fine on low-ish settings (The Witcher 1 looks great for its ancient engine, and their games always look better than you'd expect from the hardware involved).

Still, I think I'd rather see Gwent and some Thronebreaker sequels on the Switch. There would be fewer compromises, and they're arguably more suited to portable play.

Apart from using Denuvo I can't say a single bad thing about their PC versions.

And heck on consoles, Origins was one of the best looking games and one of the most prominent examples for promoting 4K and the Xbox One X.

For a handheld title, that's mighty impressive and totally expected something like this on a Switch anyways. Sad that gamers have underestimate Hellblade Switch version.

It's all a matter of how well the game is optimized for the Switch.

Doable? Probably. I'm not sure it's entirely the right thing to do. I'd be happy to be proven wrong, but even okay looking, this things gonna be a burden in handheld mode.

At this point, CDPR might as well port Cyberpunk 2077 for Switch at a later date and Witcher 3 is pretty much 4 years old anyway, anyone who wanted to play it probably already did on different systems and not to mention, some thought it would come to Wii U and that didn't happened.

By my estimation, W3 port on Switch would have to sell well over 100 000 copies before it started making any profit for the devs.

thats how expensive it would be for the devs to port it.

Even if they gave the port to third party, to some less known dev to do, it would still have to sell about the same amount to make real profit.

And do you honestly see a heavily downgraded version of W3, with censored nudity, selling 100 000 copies on Switch?

I'll definitely buy it. I never finished it and I like playing games on switch most of all. Did a full play 120 hour play through on Skyrim and enjoyed every moment, hopefully this will be the same.

@henrythefifth: based on what? And why do you think it would be censored? The PS4 has had more cases of censorship than the Switch (actually, has the Switch had any?)
