Will Metroid Other M be the Wii's first AAA game in years?

It's coming out in just a couple of months. GT gave it their Wii Game of the Show, and praised the controlls. Saying that it seemlessly blends oldschool metroid with first person shooting. Could Metroid Other M score 9.0 or higher?

My only big concern is how well movement works in the bigger open areas with the d pad. I guess I don't get how that will work, but other than that it looks amazing and on GS will PROBABLY get a 9. Then again they are quite harsh and often times wrong :P.

It's one of the few games I actually find appealing. Nintendo's Metroid + Team Ninja ftw.

I think it'll get an 8.5, but it'd be nice to see it do better. I just have a very hard time believing Team Ninja will top what Retro did in the Prime Trilogy.

I'm not sure. Really, there is no way to tell if the changes they made to the Metroid formula are warranted without playing it. A new control scheme, lots of cutscenes, and voice acting sounds great on paper, but it all depends on the execution. I am cautiously optimistic about this one. I think it will easily get AA, but I am not seeing the AAA just yet.

8.5 seems likely.

It could well be its looking sweet but Galaxy 2 got a 10.

Same here.

But once I seen more footage and read more info on SMG2 my opinion gradually changed.

Maybe the dame will happen for Metroid.

I feel it'll be AAA. Worst cas scenario is AA.

Im less concerned with its score than if it can compete with Retro's amazing adaptions of the series, to do so its going to have to be Super Metroid good and I will be proper shocked if that happens.

In years? SMG2 got AAAA just a few months ago, which more than qualifies.

I'm expecting it to be an AA title from Gamespot. I have it pre-ordered and I'm sure i'm going to love it, though!

Dont even try that. SMG2 filled that void and since AAAA come so infrequently, we put them in the AAA count (and yes, we actually decided this when MGS4 was reviewed).

Only on SW will a person put a AAA above an AAAA.

Anyway it will score 9.0.

I think it will get AA. 8.0 or 8.5. I see the controls (saying it would be better with Nunchuk/Wiimote combo, and switch to first person=lousy), the story and voice acting being lame, You don't find items but just unlock them based on orders, and the usual Metroid problems (example. Backtracking), knocking it down.

It looks like a barren wasteland of bore and autoaim. It is going to be like a 6.5-7.0 game. Perhaps worse.

Why would you say that? I have seen some vids of it, and you really can't tell 100% how well it is. Sometimes it feels like an AAA experience. Sometime it feels like an AA experience. And rarely it feels like an A experience. Even if it got A, it wouldn't suck. A means good, and there have been plenty of A games that were awesome.

I think the artstyIe looks great. It is not supposed to be the prime games, so it looks good by itself. But that is your opinion. It is not linear. The main exploration aspect is kept in Other M. As stated by Reggie, and shown in the E3 trailer. Auto Aim isn't bad. Prime had lock on, and Super Metroid made it so your enemies lined up with you gun for easy shooting. The control scheme is somewhat stupid. But it is something new, and you could easily get used to it. The voice acting is simply awful, bad, gross, atrocious. No arguments. We have only seen 3 levels of the game. The forest level, lava level and the space ship. The space ship, is a step down, but is still alright looking. The forest level looks really good in my opinion. The lava level hasn't been shown enough. But that is again your opinion I suppose. As far as tons of CG cut scenes go, I don't know. Maybe it will have a lot, maybe it won't. It may be bad it may be good.

Nah, as much as i love Metroid (probably my favorite Nintendo franchise) i think it will score 8.0 - 8.5, nevertheless, is a day 1 buy for me.

AAAA is superior to AAA, so Super Mario Galaxy 2 which received a 10 (AAAA) is the most recent AAA game even though it exceed the rating.
