It's the extreme realism of Killzone 2 that draws people in, it just destroys CoD4 (which was as close to a combat simulator as you can get). It's probably the most realistic FPS ever.HathesulaconI lol'd same lol

Hmmm have fun with your martydom. :lol:It is the flavor of the month.
The controls are slow and the game was made for casuals... tell me another FPS where you press a button to climb a ladder?
I blew $60 on it and I dont regret it (its not Haze) but it wasn't the game I expected.
CoD4 FTW

Or halo ohh wait, halo was never cared about to begin with What?!?!?!?!?!?Once Modern Warfare 2 is released, no one will care about Killzone 2.
cool_beans1
ha ha ha my point exactly.
all those people play Halo because they don't care for it.
" I hate Halo.. I'll teach those Halo lovers and play it to death, that'll show 'em.."
don't expect any other respinse from Animal-mother a lot of his posts are Halo-hate
Its not like Modern Warfare 2 is going to kill Killzone's popularity. It comes out in about 8 months and the people who are still going to be playing Killzone 2 when it drops will likely still be playing it after.

KZ2 will be forgotten by the time MW 2 comes out.

Not for PS3 owners ;)
Yes, for PS3 owners, as well, but they won't admit it. :(
As long as there will be kids, yes. Every new generation loves Pokemon. It's pretty much timeless. As for Killzone, depends on the supprt from Guerilla Games to keep it fresh.will poke'mons popularity last?
zarshack
only time can answer that but with a few more patches and some dlc it should be able to stand the test of time.
imo KZ2's community isalready quitestrong, and if GG keep supporting the game with updates, tournaments & DLC (new maps / modes) i think its popularity will grow stronger...
But its natural that a popular fps like COD:MW2 will draw gamers' attention once released, lets not forget the first one was the game responsable for knocking off Halo3 from 1st place online.. and it had a huge success also on PS3.. I think its normal that new games which are really good get more attention over older titles..
Who cares the game is horrible, broken and laggy
Just kidding :P ,Time,Sales and Support (from both sony and GG) will answer your question..is too early anyways, the game has been out couple of months..
Sorry, most played game in 2007 and 2008 was Halo 3. CoD 4 didn't do anything.

I agree, specially if GG puts extra DLC in the coming few months. This game will always have a place in my heart, I will never forget the dusty village in the campaign mode, I was astonished by the amount of effects and the intensity in that village.
As long as there will be kids, yes. Who knows. It's a great game. I enjoy it...I don't even play Gears 2 anymore to be honest. I'm sure that they will have a good amount of core players but I guess we all can agree that It won't get any more popular than it did the week of its release. It reached its peak in my opinion.
Once people are done with ribbon grinding some might be tired out and stop playing, or at least slow down on how much they play. I know I've been playing nonstop for them these past few days *shakes fist at air support*.
If you don't even know what I'm talking about don't bother.
who knows...
Personally I will never stop playing this game online. Its much like COD4 which I loved but with all the tweaks I wanted, and its a little more difficult.
If I do switch to another online shooter it will be COD6, but it will have to be something incredible to budge me from KZ2. If its the same as COD4, I still have COD4 and im done with it now...
I think it will loose its casual popularity in favour of the next COD, but the hardcores and Killzone fans will always play it online.

I just wanted to point out that your logic is wrong/backwards.
KZ2 can only be played by people with PS3s; therefore, the primary competition to KZ2 and the primary deciding factor inKZ2's popularityisthe upcoming lineup of games for the PS3. If the PS3 gets plenty of good/excellent games in the near term, then the popularity of KZ2 will drop faster. If the PS3 does not get good/excellent quality games then the popularity of KZ2 will not drop as fast.
Oh teh irony!!

Yes of course.
Just like Halo 3s popularity has dropped a lot from release.
I didn't say no one would be playing it.
I said the popularity depends not on another platforms new games, but on the same platforms new games.
It isn't a difficult concept to understand.
