Couldn't have said it better myself. There just aren't really any must have games for ps4 or x1 at the moment. Pick up a Wii U! The new Mario game is awesome.

Wow, I didn't know consoles last only one holiday. What about the next 6 years when ps4/xbox are gonna have actually existing 3rd party support and at least sony is gonna have as equally good exclusives as nintendo? Also, you get hardware that's from this decade.

What does that have to do with it being a gem this holiday season?
Man, i REALLY want to play the new Mario, but it's like the only game that i want on that thing, not worth it...imo
It's cool that the Wii U has some good games to play now, but calling the biggest video game companies home console a "hidden" gem is reaching a bit.

Because you're gonna shell out a lot of money for a system that's gonna have better games for one holiday and then will proceed to be curbstomped by ps4/xbox until the end of generation, save for a few exclusives here and there. I mean I'm just saying I don't find value in that if I had to choose between consoles but if someone has the money for everything then sure, why not.
It's better than the Xbox One, and PS4, sure, but it's still not a very appealing console.
couldn't have said better myself. So far next gen doesn't interest me one bit

By that logic, the Dreamcast wasn't a hidden gem of a console when the PS2 came and buried it.
@MlauTheDaft: if you dont like games, then yeah.
I just don't find it particularly impressive for a console that has been out for a year and it's not like every single game mentioned, is considered stellar.
I really would like to play the new Mario, though.

I plan on getting a PS4, just not right away. But for now and even 2014, the Wii U is a solid choice. Mario 3d world just came out, then you have Super Smash Bros, Bayonetta 2, Donkey Kong, X, Zelda Wii U (assuming it comes out next year which I have a feeling will), and more.
A year old console has slightly more games than week old consoles...lol. Nintendo's done.
Try again...Wii U doesn't have 'slightly more games' than the PS4 / Xbone, it currently mops the floor with PS4/Xbone when it comes to exclusive game lineup. That might change in a couple of years, but as it stands now, PS4 has pretty mucht the vague promise of a new uncharted and Xbone has the vague promise of a new Halo. Whoopee.

Pretty much what I said, it's gonna have good exclusives but if I'm gonna have only one system, it wouldn't be wii u, and I'd say most people will have only one system. Now don't get me wrong, I'd get a wii u if I had the money and time to play 2+ consoles. It's a good secondary system but I'm unsure how many people buy more than one console.
