Pipe dreams. Nintendo care nothing for HD gaming.

This is a nice exclusive we have here at MaxConsole courtesy of Artik from www.Logic-sunrise.com on the Wii 2. The actual information is said to have been leaked from an internal source of the marketing Nintendo France Service. Unlucky for them, this kind of information should stay internal, but that's not our philosophy.
- The Wii2 system will feature a Blu-Ray drive with a secondary aim of stopping piracy.
- 1080P and lower resolutions will be supported, for blu-ray movies and games.
- The release date is scheduled for third quarter of 2010.
- The release will be worldwide and on the same day for all countries.
- A scheme will be available in which it is possible to trade in the original Wii for a cheaper price on the new Wii 2.
Moreover, Nintendo wants to make a worlwide annoucement, only one month before release date. Huge publicity and Viral Marketing will be utilized to create the Buzz. Official pictures are not yet available, and more specs will be released in due course.
Why do we believe it at all ?
* Artik from Logic-Sunrise.com has regularly provided news to MaxConsole and has a lot of 'insider' contacts.
* Nintendo has suggested that it's time they embraced high definition technology for the Wii and Blu-ray has firmly established itself. So a Wii 2 with Blu-ray support does make sense.

I will buy it if it comes with a REAL controller, and doesnt force that damn dild...uh, I mean "Wii-mote" on us, forcing almost all games to have broken gameplay and being shovelware:D
Hell to be honest, I dont even mind the inferior graphics, I would buy a wii right now if it had launched with a standard controller and the devs actually supported it OVER the Wii-mote.
It's a little late. So it will play games in 1080p... what about all those wii games so far that don't support it? My guess is that they have added a scalar and allow for 'upscaling' to 1080p, and the console will still maintain their low graphics quality just stretched to 1080 resolution. I can't believe I used to be a huge Ninty fan.Wow why even post this crap? Trading in an old system and getting credit towards a new one? Nintendo won't even drop the price of their games so there is no way they would do something like this.

Announcing it a month before it is to be released? No company would do that.
You don't need to. Once you have a set install base, you focus on the software. I mean, Ninty has a history of re-releasing systems, but its not something they need to do in anyway.seems fake, but nintendo needs to rerelease the Wii if they want to coninue to sell consoles. Sales are dropping, and if they don't do something fast the Wii market is going to cave in on itself.

Nintendo still dominates software and hardware sales, what sense would it make to push a console out next year when day stil makin da moniez?
90% chance of it being fake.
Reggie said there is no Wii HD coming soon, but then again, why would he tell us? :?
I highly doubt this is true. Nintendo has said their next console will be HD though, but they also said they're going to do more than just make an HD Wii, so the lack of any additional details about changes to the Wii 2 along with whats already been said makes be doubt this article. Also it makes no business sense for Nintendo to pull the trigger first on the next gen.
where did you hear that? That sort of storage medium would kill blu ray. Unless its a HDD.
I have heard they're doing amazing things with SD Cards. Like they might make a 2TB SD Card eventually. If they were to get that medium working for games we would have the benefits of discs and carts. All the FMV, voiceovers, music, plus no loading times and save abilities. No need for internal storage for games.

This. SDXC medium for games or something similar. That would be the way to go. And they would probably still package them in DVD Cases. Just for good mesaure. Like DS games, which have excessive packaging.
it makes actually no sense for them to do that, with every console release theres always a reason, usually related to money, but the wii is still selling so it would be foolish to make a whole new console at the moment, then again this is nintendo and anything is possible
Well, I just scanned over that Original Post (OP).
I bought a NEXT GEN HD Blu-Ray Wii ALREADY!!!
I bought it back in 2006!

this once ps wand/gem/sphere comes out ILL have my motion controlled games in HD. Theres a thread where a guy predicted this future and everyone mocked him too lol.
reggie denied the existance of the wii HD. here is the video with an interview with gametrailers.
http://www.gametrailers.com/episode/gametrailers-tv/77?ep=77
skip up to 19:05 and watch from their. Reggie even says " hehe..you know, Micheal seems to be the only one that believes this is gonna happen". Its not happening get over it.
by the time this realy does come out , if it doe, bluray will be cheaper to develope for ,Nintendo take a risk with costly hardware? Not likely. This is just speculative hoping.
foxhound_fox
as would ps3 like games,
its already rumored ms and sony are doin 10 with their already dated hardware - yes 4-5 yrs a piece
so ya , it wouldnt hurt and tight not make ne
they may just keep wii , who knows but what i do know is hd is goin down more people are getting into it,
remember
nintendo main reason for not doing full hd this gen is because the market was still in the process of growing ,
nintendo played smart not stupid, cause likei said by the time wii 2 really is ready youll be able to pay 200 for the next nintendo console ,
because the cost of its graphics would be down , and sony said their goin to do a ps3.5 in a interview a while back they said they should have done a ps2.5 so im pretty sure next gen wont see a big leap in graphic ,
thus giving us cheaper consoles and i just notice some one claims 599 price tag what ever , like i said above ,bluray have came down ,
oh and wll t play dvds- i sure hope so
i wanna watch my rugrat on it so bad if it comes by the way just to tick people off
this wil be the nail in sonys coffin dont ya think
I've always wanted to cheerlead and bake cookies in HD graphics... Hopefully they could fit all of the minigames they publish as true games in one blu ray so they don't have to stop releasing those eye-sores and gimmicks they call video games. I guess it'll be really fun to watch Mario rescue the princess and in HD graphics but honestly, don't you guys feel like when Sony releases their wii-mote adaptation, that'll make the PS3 basically everything the TC just stated this hd wii concept to be?

omg. I could totally see Nintendo doing that too. I knew it, the holodeck on ST:TNG was made by Nintendo.
Nintendo is also mentioned in the patent as a joint applicant: "... disclosure is herein made that the claimed invention was made pursuant to a Joint Research Agreement as defined in 35 U.S.C. 103 (c)(3), that was in effect on or before the date the claimed invention was made, and as a result of activities undertaken within the scope of the Joint Research Agreement, by or on the behalf of Nintendo Co., and InPhase Technologies, Inc."
Apparently there's your evidence for it.
If nintendo does go work with inphase i assure u we wont be getting a full out holgraphics medium. They just might be working on a more advance disc medium. something that goes beyond bluray buy 5 gb or 10gb with faster speeds, but i dont see them ever using 300gb for a game. and $10k is a little over my price budget for a system and im not paying $600 for a cartridge. people use ur heads. this is nintendo. the company that nver makes a system above $200 excluding the wii. they even refuse to make thier first party titles $60. nintendo might be working with inphase on something but its not gonna be holographic storage. like i siad maybe a new storage medium or something. maybe is a new type of HDD or something. it doesnt have to be a new media storage just for retail discs.
