Why is there such a complete lack of diversity and effort in Microsoft's Xbox first party?

Here's a clue. When no console in the history of ever has gone down $150 within its launch year. You are defending a goddamn dud of a machine.

Who cares if it's technically inferior, something which is so burned out and the disparity is greatly embellished. The experience gotten on both consoles generally ends up being in the parameters of nearly the same and in most cases you wouldn't even be able to tell the difference behind a curtain, so who gives a shit...

It's currently got 186 less games than the PlayStation 4, the PlayStation 4 also has 92 more indie titles than the Xbox One, plus a barrage of JRPG's likely filling the remainder of that void, not the most compelling purchasing or gravity of games argument for the typical person, it's just not.

See your problem is you just say "worse", that's such a blanket statement that makes something black and white and seem more detrimental than it actually is in practice. 900p to 1080p? You'd be hard pressed to notice in nearly all scenarios unless you were explicitly told with the upscaling in place. Framerates in the games are generally capped the same, there might be some minor variance, the Xbox One version might use some different post techniques or slightly different settings to garner it some extra performance and that's about it. In most cases you're not going to notice much of anything, all of this junk is so blown out of proportion it makes me sick, and you don't even own this fucking thing and you're speaking as if you're in the know and can tell and compare and contrast regularly... You don't think the Xbox One is an equivalent? What are you smoking? If that GPU disparity didn't exist they would practically be identical, and in reality everything outputted from both systems ends up looking about the same in terms of graphical rendering capability, Ryse is a testimate to that and that was a launch game for crying out loud, not to mention Quantum Break which looks fantastic graphically.

The console didn't go down $150, they dropped a $100 peripheral from the package, and like the PlayStation 4 were at $400. Then months, and month, and months later they lowered the price of the console by $50, Sony followed suit several months later.

Honestly, the existence of PC versions is a non factor to me, since I do not foresee me having a gaming PC any time in the near future.

And yeah man, I love Remedy, I even liked Alan Wake, it's why I am interested in QB at all. it's just, ReCore and Scalebound are more my kind of a game.

1. Yes, I compare systems in an informed manner on a board that exists to compare systems. Clearly, I am not a good fit for that board.

Well, I'd say that when you spend money, you want the best bang for your buck, and that means that a technically inferior console, no matter how inferior, is still a worse product than an alternative, unless it has something that overcomes those deficiencies- such as the PS2 did with the GCN and Xbox, as an example.

4. Just last year- Star Wars Battlefront was 720p on Xbox One, 900p on PS4, which by your own admission isn't that far off from 1080p. The difference between 1080p and 720p, however, is noticeable- as was the difference between Battlefront's XB1 and PS4 versions. Fallout 4 had framerate drops to 0 frames in places. Just Cause 3 is, of course, legendary. This matters- this will continue to matter. I don't care about pixel counting, incidentally- for instance, the PS2 was shit at running multiplats next to Xbox and Gamecube. So if Xbox One amasses a wonderful exclusives library that makes me ignore the flaws in multiplat games, I stop harping on about this. Simple transaction.

5. Ah yes, a glorified QTE is used to demonstrate a GPU's rendering power. Ryse is proof that the Xbox One can output visuals on the same scale as the PS4.

That said, Quantum Break looks fantastic, Crackdown 3 looks incredible with its cloud assisted technology, Scalebound has a gorgeous artstyle, Sea of Thieves might be one of the most vibrant and aesthetically pleasing games in a while. See, I am not above giving credit where it is due- not let's hope these games come out and are as great as they seem to be, because I promise you, if the Xbox One sells itself to me, I stop caring about its other flaws. My 'smear campaign' motivated by my 'agenda' comes to an end.

Because Sony owns Ratchet and Resistance. That's the reason Insomniac wanted to own its IP once it struck out with Sony and EA- it wanted to be able to retail ownership of its games, and only Microsoft was willing to offer them that with Sunset.

Sony owns Sly, inFamous, and the studio that develops them as well.

I don't hate the Xbox, I do however hate Microsoft because like Intel and Nvidia they are a bunch of turds when it comes to playing nice with others and promoting consumer choice rather than just brown envelopes and dirty business tactics.

Whoa, sorry did not read the whole OP, just the beginning. I guess this is a pure system wars topic, for me like I have said many times, I usually roll with 1 console per generation, simply because over the years I am usually satisfied with 1 console only because most genres I like are usually represented in my console of choice and then there is the time issue where I just dont have tine to play the exclusives on each console, unless it is something incredible.

So TC you already have 2 consoles right? In your shoes I would find it very hard to justify purchasing an Xbox One, I would not even bother honestly I mean unless you feel you have time to play all three and your handheld games? So there is nothing wrong with that, it is normal you don't find a reason ti buy an Xbox One at this point.

For me, I agree the first party line up could use a little more variety, but 2 of my favorite genres (shooters and racers) are taken care of with Xbox One as far as first party. I would like to see more horror and story driven games, but luckily we have titles like QB coming soon. So I'm good in that sense. I always have great games to play, that's the bottom line.

MS has 33 console exclusive games that have ALREADY been launched and 11 more with dates (and whole bunch more with TBA)

MS also has (same list) 24 exclusive games already released and 3 more with release dates (and a whole bunch of TBA as well)

in just the latter list of released games there are (according to that link) 15 different genres of game

I did not look at Sony's and perhaps they have more but this list of just MS shows that you are under reporting for the XB1 to try and prove your little point

They just don't have enough stand out studios. They have 343i and The Coalition as Halo and Gears factories and then there's Turn 10 who are at least consistent. After that there's the off chance Rare might make a quirky little game here and there, and then there's dog shit like Fable.

On the other hand, Sony have an outstanding studio in Naughty Dog, who will probably go on to create stand out games in any given generation... but beyond that there are so called top tier devs with iffy track records. Santa Monica is a capable studio, but only in the same way someone like 343i is. They can make a working game if they want to, but it's like luke warm offerings. Sucker Punch are in the same category as Lionhead for me. Infamous is shit. Then of course Media Molecule who seem content with making bad playing creators in the era of Minecraft.

I guess what I'm saying is, quantity and diversity is all well and good, but what's even better are good games. And both Sony and MS first party don't make enough of those. Nintendo on the other hand have the best track record in the buisness. But even them lately have had their fair share of uninspired offerings. Like I don't give a **** about Fire Emblem and their enteries into their main franchises have all been just passable this gen. Thank God for Splatoon bringing something fresh to the roster. It's sales prove something needed revitalizing in that company.

Contrary to what some fan boys think here my problem with the X1 is not that it's from MS....I do have their first two consoles.....it is that the games that leave me wanting. I'm waiting for MS to generate some must have game/games that make me want to pick up the One. So far it's more of the same and I really don't play those games. I do have a few of the early Halo's but I'm really not a fan of shooters.....first or third. Fighting and racing games are also low on my list of games. I liked Soul Caliber on the DC. I have Injustice but other than that.....just don't play them. I wish MS would cater to more than the small demographic that it does. And that's the reason the console isn't selling this gen.

The most creative games were on their first console. Lots of genres to pick from. It started to narrow with the 360 so much so that most of the games I bought for that console were third party. And as I said I await to pick up the One. So far nothing impresses.

Because MS caters to NA who love guns, MS do not care for Europe nor Asia. This is why they have and always will fail outside NA, it's good that next gen they will go PC orientated.

Come one man while i agree that Forza did make some things great,it never ever dethroned GT as the go to race,GT has always beat Forza sales wise without even trying,and Forza 5 which came basically head to head with GT6 actually scored lower than GT6,79% on meta while GT6 has 81%,there hasn't being any other GT since GT6,so we have to wait for the next one to see how it goes,but the last one hitting in 2013 like Forza actually outscore Forza 5.

Rare is way underrated now. They went from being the most overblown studio ever on Nintendo's platforms to being treat like trash on Xbox. Viva Pinata and Banjo Nuts and Bolts are better games than Conker and the OG Banjo. They play better and are far more interesting. Which is why I'm not in the slightest hyped for Yooka-Layle because it's going to be a nostalgia fest of shitty late 90's collectathons with weighted controls. Rare are still capable of good stuff. It's just they have a hate parade because they are now owned by MS. Sea Of Thieves looks interesting, definately something I'm willing to give a chance. I actually think Rare are my favorite MS studio, because Kameo, Viva Pinata and Banjo N&B are all really good games. As you say, Kinect fucked them.
