Why did Nintendo let the Wii become a shovelware dumping ground?

It's not a question of Nintendo and Sonys doing. It's the simple fact that it's much easier to develop games for a system that by default has a lower production cost.

Anyone who believes that an AAA game on a handheld = an AAA game on a high-def console, is seriously grasping at straws.

They are indeed only good to awesome for the Wii since they are only on the Wii. I've found many of them to not only match but surpass the games I play on the 360/PS3. I'd take an interesting new type of hamburger for $3 rather than a $50 bland steak any day.

Yeah the Wii is shovelware-central,and the the ratio of good-bad games is pretty unacceptable imo.Which is a shame,because as someone mentioned ealier in this thread,the Wii has lots of quirky and offbeat titles that will never be made for the PS3/360,and interesting upcoming games like Madworld and Fragile.

I think its just the fact that the Wii has become too sucsessful,and everyone wants a slice of the pie without having to work for it.

The DS doesn't even factor in to this 'generation'. #1 it came out long before the 360, let alone the PS3 & Wii. #2 its a HANDHELD. Next, you'll tell me that Gamespot and Metacritic should consider SUDOKU & Crossword puzzles as GOTY contenders.

1. Fable 2 and Fallout 3 are not out yet, so noone can tell.

2. Oblivion is probably the best RPG this gen, so is quite difficult to match it, for both a console or handheld game.

What I can tell is that FFIV and The World Ends With You are better than Infinte Undiscovered, for example. And the incoming Chrono Trigger will probably be the best RPG this gen.

the wiis only problem is that it doesnt have the good library to balance it out like the ps2 did or the ds does. The wii atm is just too much bad and not enough good
