What say you SW?
1. Xbox One gamepad
2. Dualshock 4
3. Wii-U pad
Gotta say that the DS4 is a gigantic improvement over previous PS controllers, which were awkwardly designed pieces of garbage upon retrospect.
The Elite controller is the best console controller available. Hell, it's even good for people with arthritis/carpal tunnel. I can never get behind a DS4 controller due to the analog stick placement. Cramps my hands.
Well, seeing as how the Gamespot metagame is important to some people here when it suits them, I figured I would indulge myself.....here is a Gamespot quote from the 2015 report card for Xbox One:

Nothing Beats an Elite
The Xbox One Elite Controller is a dream come true for the video game obsessive. Do not listen to Microsoft’s line that it is designed specifically for the pro gamer; if you can afford this preposterously priced, magnificently crafted marriage of plastics then you should not hesitate.
This pad will sing in your hands and never stop. The quality of materials used throughout is obvious at first touch, from the soft non-slip finish of the case, to the excellent new rubber grips at the rear side of each handle, to the steel analogue sticks and D-pads. This is a Ferrari engine of a games controller, roughly 50 percent heavier than its vanilla counterpart, with thumbsticks that spring back to their centre with such heft that you can feel it reverberate. Do not worry about the additional weight; it is distributed so that the pad spreads into your palms and quickly disappears.

As a bonus, four paddles can be attached to the back and sit under your middle and ring fingers, allowing access to the face button inputs without the need to take thumbs off the analogues. Another extra is the removable satellite-dish-shaped D-Pad, which is a blessing if you’re the type that knows your quarter-circle-forwards from your half-circle-backs. Meanwhile, two unobtrusive switches at the rear allows players to adjust the travel of the triggers, which works especially well in fighting games, and also FPSes where the left-trigger is used to aim down sights. Perhaps best of all, the Elite comes with the biggest omission from the standard pad; a 3.5mm headphone jack, which works with any iOS/Android headphone-mic combo, and can directly play game audio.
Granted, $150 (£120) for an additional pad is a lavish investment. But put it this way: You are at the mercy of a controller’s strengths and weaknesses every second you play games. If you can afford it, you deserve the very best.
Mine is arriving from fed-ex today.
@n64dd: Cool...a little advice, it takes a while for your muscle memory to get accustomed to the back paddles, it will feel weird at first but I am used to it now.
There are a lot of solid options this gen. For me, the DS4 is the best because it fits my hands like a glove. This isn't true for everyone, which is why I find these sort of debates not very productive - I think personal ergonomics and in some cases over a decade of "practice" with a specific design are a powerful influence on what someone is going to say is "the best"
@charizard1605: if there's one fault with the Wii U pro controller, it's the analogue lay out. GameCube had it right and Microsoft has it right. The most common default position of your thumbs while playing is your left on the analogue and your right on the face buttons. I don't get why so many like to play games with lopsided thumb placements.
PS4's controller has never felt good in my hands, and I've used it multiple times.
Xbone controller is nice, but they break easily. I have a 6 month protection plan on controllers I buy from a local store, and I've had to use it twice already.
I actually loved how the gamepad felt in my hands, even though I wasn't a fan of WiiU, so I'll go with that.

If you break a controller thats been out since 1995 you are not doing it right..sure toggles get a lil off..but that takes some punishment.
Xbox One elite controller is amazing, perfect controller! You don't even need to put batteries in the thing to work, just plug in the USB cable to your Xbox One and Elite controller and turn on and play. Comes in handy if your rechargeable have died or your out of batteries :)
PC, because PC has all the controllers.
you really make pc gamers look bad bro..
How?
XBone controller is far too bulky for my taste and the bumpers are an abomination. DS4 has a shitty battery life but it still feels way better in my hands.

Only the first version of the Xbox One controller had terrible bumpers. They fixed the bumpers in the second version of the Xbox One controller.
I love the DS4, it's a solid and well thought out peice of kit(ergonomically), exactly what you'd expect from over 20 years of honing and perfecting, but oh my god, the triggers suck ass, the grips will literally fall apart.(PS4 gamers...you all know this, don't just try and cover it up with control freaks. at first they slightly tare, then they rip, next thing you know a chunk has fallen off, and don't get me started on battery life.
So from the results of that pole, HOW the HELL is the DS4 beating the Elite? which is just that. The Elite.

People who only own a certain console and not the other would obviously find their console's controller more comfortable..
But as someone who plays with more than one console...Xbox One controller is my favourite..
I dont own xbone yet but I did try the elite controller at friends place and have to say it's great(tho obviously pricy) and gets my vote. Best controller I own is the Wii U pro
1 - Xbox One Elite Controller
2 - Xbox One Controller
3 - Wii U Pro Controller
4 - Dualshock 4
5 - Wii U Game Pad
This is Spot On
I agree.
The dualshock 4 is laughably bad as it has a horrid battery life and fake, cheap rubber. The wiiu pro doesnt even have analog triggers so its immediately disqualified.
The standard x1 controller is my choice if only for the price.
My personal preference is the dualshock but all of them are close to even for me besides the gamepad(I only like it for games built around it, otherwise I'll go with the Pro). I have not had a chance to try out the Xbox Elite yet.
.. Going to have to go with the steam controller.. No other controller I have come across has that kind of customization.. Once your acclimated to it, its far more accurate than a regular gamepad.. And it's battery life is absolutely insane.. I have put over 30 hours into the controller and the battery is still reading over 90%..
