Be honest. Tell us why. Both are the " empire strikes back" of the series.

FF7, because I like the original game more of the two in question, I like Final Fantasy more, and I like RPGs more.
But I don't think FF7 is anything close to being 'The Empire Strikes Back,' that's FF6.
Im excited for Resident Evil 2, we get to play as two characters with a fresh take. I love survival horror games and im hoping it comes to Nintendo.
There are still gems from yesteryear.
Like with the black and white TV analogy....I could watch the Twilight Zones series all day.
Product just has to be good. And any generation will enjoy it.
I haven't played either which is why im highly excited for FF7 remake since its a game i never got to play, couldnt care less about RE
@mems_1224: Most Xbox fans are around 10-14 so that's a good guess. This is according to a census Gamespot themselves did during E3.
So Mems was between the age of -1 and 3 when he signed up for Gamespot, confirmed.
@mems_1224: Of course it does. Kids today can't appreciate classics like FFVII and RE2 but that's totally understandable.
False broseph. One of my kid sisters prefers playing classic games, and her favorite game is FFVI which she played 4 years ago when she was 7 years old.
Also her favorite movie is The Good, the Bad and the Ugly.
Kids can definitely have good taste and appreciate classics. It just takes someone showing them that that stuff exists.
Resident Evil 2 by far, the hipster hype train that is Final Fantasy 7 is going to win the vote though.
Liking FFVII is anything but hipster man, it's one of the biggest names in gaming lol. FFVII is about as anti hipster as you get regarding classic games.

Sorry, I'm using it as a pejorative.
@mems_1224:
Yeah, I'd say it's the series tops. No bloat, no padding, good fast pace, good music, characters that you'll actually like (yes really, a FF without shit characters), cool and meaningful side content, and a pretty decent story for a jrpg.
Without getting too spoilerish, the antagonist actually sees some measure of success and the game completely breaks off into non-linear progression for the 2nd half. It's definitely different.
That said, a lot of us have a raging nostalgia boner for the game, so don't let the hype ruin it.
I know they're releasing it on Steam here soon, but I'd say **** that and just play the original. I know ZSNES emulates it perfectly.
FFVII
I did enjoy the first 2 resident evils and I though those were the best games in the series to me. One of the only games to actually make me jump when the dog jumps through the window.
Having said that I think FFVII would give more gameplay and hopefully they can do the remake justice. The episodic content doesn't bother me,
"We’ve seen everyone’s comments and reactions to the news that FINAL FANTASY VII REMAKE will be a multi-part series and many have speculated correctly as to the reason why we have made this decision. If we were to try to fit everything from the original into one remake installment, we would have to cut various parts and create a condensed version of FINAL FANTASY VII. We knew none of you would have wanted that."
I'll wait to purchase entire game as one. I feel there is potential to get over a hundred hours of gaming as the median for the original was 85 hours, compared to a single run through of RE2.
@finalstar2007: How old are you?
You should make a thread asking this, I'm actually curious how old some of these people are.
The results are usually depressing man, most of these dudes are way too old to being saying some of the shit they say.
I just like to imagine that I'm arguing with a bunch of teenagers, that way it all makes sense. When you realize that you're arguing with a corporate slave in his 40's, it's kind of a downer.

JRPGs are not real RPGs.
@mems_1224:
Mmm, maybe? But if it's a port from their anthologies collection, then you'll have to deal with load times on every random battle. It's not terrible, but it sucks compared to the brisk pace of the original.
Be a dirty pirate mems, it's the only way.

If he has a GBA they did port FFVI to that and there were even a couple bonus dungeons added.

Yeah, GBA is a good choice. SNES, GBA, or Wii, I think those are the only legit options for playing the original without load times.
I'm going the neither route on this one, so far I think they're going to ruin the combat in FF7, and I found RE2 to be one of the weakest games in the series, but if I had to pick one or the other I'd say RE2 since it doesn't look like they're going to ruin it like FF7

1. Not in the realm of impossible.
2. They "could" just like Xbox fanboys "could" be non-FPS addicts but it is far in between. 1:1000
