Wii Us for the lack of analogue triggers. Those dumbasses at Nintendo still doing stupid things to restrict games with their hardware.
Yeah but what about those idiots at Sony and Microsoft for not including an IR sensor! So restricting!
I'm serious. Let's gp through the list of awesome Nintendo hardware choices.
N64, I can forgive, because a lot of the stuff that happened they couldn't have foreseen, they were kind of blind sided.
Gamecube:
1.5 GB Discs, and a controller with a small d-pad and pointless layout. Capcom Vs SNK 2 EO is probably up there among my favorite fighters of all time. It would still have been a highly playable version in pal regions. It's hard to get a fight pad for the original Xbox and the PS2 version runs at 50Hz here.
Wii:
Wasn't too bad, they could have put more effort into the classic controller pro, it feel really cheap. Apart from that, they could have made a much better GPU choice, it didn't have to match the PS3 and Xbox 360, but Ati had lots of great choices at the time.
Wii U:
They chose a weak CPU to keep a small hardware unit form factor because it creates less heat. They don't have analogue buttons. This definitely impacts what developers can do. They constantly push CPU and make good use of analogue triggers. Didn't they try to bring Project Cars to the Wii U. They just couldn't.
I think Nintendo's problem is that they can be inconsiderate to what 3rd party developers want or need. That's a problem when that third party support can benefit them.
