These two series have had gaps in their lifetimes of minimal game releases, and pretty much sell similarly. They are some of the core's favorite Nintendo series, which do you prefer out of the two?

Star Fox. I love flying in spaceships. I wish we had more games like it that matched its quality. Star Citizen i hope is good. I cant wait for Star Fox Zero.

Not a fair comparison. The Metroid series has two god-tier games whereas Star Fox has games that are good at best.

I'm not a fan of either, but Metroid has good potential for games. Star Fox pertains to a dying genre, and quite frankly a very boring one at that.

Metroid is older and has better footing, and I've been enjoying it since the very first game. For me the SNES Star Fox was awesome in its day, as was the N64 Star Fox game. Haven't played it, but it appears they botched the GameCube Star Fox titles, whereas Metroid had a success with the Prime Trilogy, as well as two GBA games (Fusion & Zero Mission). And, despite people acting like conformist automatons regarding Other M bashing, I actually found it to be quite an enjoyable game. Overall, yeah, I'd say Metroid over Star Fox. I saw too Star Fox had a DS game recently released on Wii U via the eShop and it looks stupid as hell, basically like a bot multiplayer arena.

That being said, is there a proper Metroid game on the horizon? No. Star Fox on the other hand is looking pretty darn good I must say.

Star Fox is a mediocre franchise with some fun games mixed in.

Metroid includes some of the greatest games ever made.

NES: Metroid wins. (By default)
SNES: Metroid wins.
N64: Star Fox wins (By default)
GBA: Metroid wins (By default but Zero/Fusion were good)
GCN: Metroid wins (Prime 1 is god)
NDS: Both lose horribly
Wii: Metroid wins (By default but MP3 is really good)
3DS: Both lose horribly
Wii U: Star Fox

Come on now, Star Fox is only not-shit because of Star Fox 64. Metroid has been a consistent A+ franchise if we exclude the bullshit like Other M.

Metroid is Nintendo's best franchise or 2nd best to Mario, Star Fox isn't even in the top 5.

I'm gonna go with Star Fox cause Star Fox made history on Nintendo consoles but not once, but twice when Fox show us that super chip for SNES could push the SNES beyond the limits. Star Fox N64 gave us the Rumble Pack vibration on a controller and when other game developers saw this, it became a smashing hit. Star Fox all the way kids.

Weird comparison really, but Metroid is probably more popular because of the Prime games. However, I like Starfox better than Metroid on SNES - Super Metroid annoys me because all you want to do is get through the rooms, not enjoy the world.

Force Feedback has nothing to do with SF, and the FX chip was seldom used because of expenses.

Super Metroid is the only great metroid game. Starfox and Starfox 64 are both great. By count of 2 to 1, Starfox wins.

Prime is glitchy. It is rpg slow. Starfox has its limits but still has more depth. Not sure where I mentioned Nintendo 64.
