I hope its soon because their vision of what gaming should be like is pathetic and archaic. They obviously don't want to compete or make quality games, unless it's of course kiddy trash....because we all know they live in a fantasy world with unicorns and rainbows......this mentality was obviously adopted to cope after japan being nuked or somesh11t.

Nintendo need NEW aggressive leaders to run the company if you ask me.

Oh, and if any adult still affiliates himself with Mario games.....he clearly has a mental illness. How long will they continue to milk that f'en franchise.

I like this thread because the timing makes it much clearer how stupid it was to ask for these things. These types of threads were actually going around repeatedly during the Wii-U era. Nintendo really sold how this thing can co-exist with the gaming PC. And their games are phenomenal. If you see the hype around Mario now, the complaints from people that their franchises are running for too long... I mean is that even an argument that someone can make now?

Sony and Microsoft are more likely of dropping consoles than Nintendo is.

Maybe someday but for now, so long as they are making bank, it won't go the way of Sega anytime soon. Frankly I wouldn't mind seeing Nintendo games on other platforms but apparently the nut huggers here love owning lots of redundant hardware for the sake of having a name brand stamped on it so they can swing on that sack.

1. Your post is idiotic and given the great success that Nintendo has had with the Nintendo Switch and other things like the NES/SNES Classic, there are obviously many people that disagree with you and there is thankfully no chance of Nintendo leaving the console market anytime soon.

2. If you don't think that Nintendo makes quality games then why do you care so much about them becoming a software-only company? If you truly believe that their games are bad then it should not matter to you that those games that you think are bad are on a console that you don't own or have to spend any money on or affects you in any way. It should only matter if you secretly want to play those games on your PS4 or Xbox and you are jealous that you can't, so you hope for them to become a software-only company, so they can then make games for the system that you own and you won't have to be jealous of what you are missing out on anymore.

3. I cannot think of anything gaming related that would be worse than if Nintendo stopped making consoles. The gaming industry needs Nintendo in the console market because Nintendo is the only one left that still delivers something different than the rest. The PS4 and Xbox One are practically twins that both deliver a very similar gaming experience and lately I've been starting to question what's the point of me even owning both of them when they are so similar, but the Nintendo Switch offers me unique experiences that I can't really get on the twins making it a great complementary system. So without Nintendo making consoles, there would be nowhere to go for a gaming experience that is different than what the twins offer and that would suck.

They kind of already are depending on your definition of “dropping out.” Switch isn’t a traditional console and they’re done with the 3DS. so it’s gonna be hybrid games from here on out

Out of the three they are the only ones producing something worth a damn.

The good thing about Nintendo is that they are the only ones doing this, as you calling it, arhaic and kiddy "trash" games and we like it or not, market needs such games for all kind of gamers with different tastes and why not, for younger people than the bloodthirsty, kill everything 13-15 years old youngsters. So as long as Nintendo providing kinda "unique" experience theyll keep selling hardware.

Personally i dont care about 90% of their games. I dont care, i dont feel like missing something great, i feel like ive seen the same formulas over and over and over and over with games like Kart or Smash or 2D marios etc, though there is this 10% or less that i feel im missing, something great like Mario main series or Zelda.

Thats why i wouldnt give crap if they would go software only, in fact if they ever do this they might see some cash from me because the last 15 years all im doing is renting and not buying any of the products because value wise are in the bottom

It would only happen IF IF Nintendo switch hit a wall next year and sales would only barely hit 20 million ltd. Otherwise they can always put out cheap casual hardware and make bank at only 40-60
