When was the last time a game's storyline had you captivated?

When was the last time a game's storyline had you on the edge of your seat, waiting to see what will happen next? What is that game that just has an incredible storyline completely hooking you?

I would say the last game I played which had me really pleased about the storyline would be:

I really liked the political drama FFXII had going on. Definitely the strongest point of the game in my view. What was the last game you played that stunned you with its awesome storyline?

mine was Time splitters Future Perfect. i put countless hours in the game but when i finished the game i was overcome with joy which was quickly replaced by sorrow as i had just finished by favourite game and there would be no more to come(but they ve announced one!!woo hoo)zaid55

Wow, I didn't think someone would say TS:FP. Very short SP but I also loved the story + the humour was fantastic! Timesplitters 4 should be great. Hopefully it lands sometime in 2008.

Oblivion.I was really into the story half way through the game, too bad the ending was so lame though.

I just started playing Bioshock, and i can see myself getting engrossed in it as well.

I dunno what the last game was, but I'm enjoying the story to Blue Dragon. I'm totally gripped to it, 10 hours through.crazychris90

For me, games stories rarely capture me. I value the way the story is told and the pacing more than anything else, I think Morrowinds story was amazing, yes it's cliche but the way it was told was simply sublime.

Hotel Dusk Room 215, while it had no replay value, I still finished it a second time.

gotta go with Bioshock

prior to that...probably Twilight Princess because although it was entirely predictable and mostly the same as past games in the series, I still love the Zelda storyline

I know im gonna get flammed badly for this but its prolly halo2. I mean the end totally ruined it but up until then I was glued to the screen. :P

oh yea unlike halo though Mgs3's ending got me pretty good.

Planescape: Torment is probably one of the best stories ever in any videogame. I agree FFXII was a great change of pace for the franchise, and I also really liked MGS2's storyline. And RE4 surprisingly had me interested in the story too.

best story in any rpg ive ever played.

i actually felt really sad at the end of the game when veryone appears to be dead except lloyd.
