That's how it always happens, right? The second game never gets better. Oh, wait...

LOL KILLZONE2

Yeah, people pretty much trashed Microsoft's RTS game when compared to Total Annihilation and other games in the genre. Looks like they turned it around in a very good way.
Sony can't do the same? Fanboyism.
Sure it could get better. What do you know about the new one though? Why is a game being hyped when nothing but a cgi trailer was shown andfirst one flopped? It would at least make sence if gameplay was shown to hype it but most people are just zombies and think it will be such a great game just because Sony said so. What because a CGI trailer was shown and Sony was even caught in a lie saying that it was gameplay.Eltroz
well people have been hyping it for 2 reasons, they havnt showed anything since that trailer so that makes people wonder what they have been working on. Also all the money they have put into it, look at all the money that went into gears, so people think lots of money means great games. Me personaly dont have to high of hopes for this game, but I am interested to see how it comes out.
But this example is of a Microsoft game that went from sub 7.0 to AAA. So, who really thinks that Sony can't do the same?TekkenMaster606
Crash bandicoot got much better than the first from their sequels.

There were a lot of mixed reactions about AoE when it came out. Some people loved it, some hated it. GameSpot evidently hated it, but AoE still had enough good in its core design to win a GotY award from the Academy of Interactive Arts and Sciences.
Killzone, however, was just all bad.
Your logic is flawlessshungokustasu
So flawless that it also applies to Fable.
Thank you Tekkenmaster, I'll have something to say to Fable haters from now on. :)
[QUOTE="gamergeekgeek"]LOL KILLZONE2 :lol:
fuman3
LOL overhyped and over rated Halo 3
overrated? you haven't even played it yet and the first 2 were great. overhyped? only cause you're a cow. Anything that isn't a game hyped on the ps3 is overhyped and anytime a 360 game gets a good rating it's "teh bias"
Yeah Killzone1 wasn't even that bad aside from technical problems from being rushed and on PS2. Showed plenty of potential from the developer imo. This time around they have the power, time, and a much bigger budget and team. Could be anywhere A to AAA though.Lazy_Boy88
Sony would murder everyone on that team and there families if this game is bad. Killzone 2 cannot afford to Suck Lives are riding on this.

why is Fable always brought into an argumentabout Killzone? Is everyone thinking that because Fable 1 got a 8.6 that it can't get any higher? And is that the best damage control cows can come up with or what?

I really liked Fable and I'm pretty confident that a longer and more in-depth game based on the foundation Fable laid out can be a fantastic game. It's just that Fable was hyped to the moon and back, so cows bring it up when Killzone is brought up (even though Fable was closer to a 10 than Killzone was to Halo).
But of course, none of that matters now because Tekkenmaster has convinced all cows that Fable 2 can be AAA.
The only difference I see with the Fable comparison is that Lionhead is a well developed studio that has had previous success and critical acclaim. When you look at Ensemble during the first Age of Empires game they were still an inexperienced studio and Age of Empires was it's first major release that was backed by the Microsoft Game Studios label. Which had since it's inception had been full of Pinball and MS Flight Simulator. The parallels are very similar. Killzone is a game that's developed by a developer with barely any catalog. A low budget Vietnam shooter and a big budget title backed by Sony.
....hahahahaha
whoa that was a good one TC

Keep laughing all you want. My logic is solid on this one. Anything is possible.

Despite its flaws, and despite the snubbing GameSpot gave it, Age of Empires STILL won GoTY awards from several sources, including from the AIAS. Did Killzone win any awards? And AoE's average on GameRankings is still 87%, so clearly a lot of reviewers still loved it. Killzone was mediocre across the board.

Despite that, my point is that other reviews clearly show that AoE still had a lot of redeeming qualities, and that the main determinant in its low score on GameSpot was personal preference. With Killzone, reviewers were unanimous in their indifference to that title.
Right, because since one sequel to a crappy game was great, all sequels to crappy games must be great, right?psycotictaratua
You can't even call AoE "crappy." It received mixed reviews, but a lot of people still praised it a great deal. Not so with Killzone.
[QUOTE="cobrax25"]to bad the third wasnt very good :)Tiefster
I liked AoE 3. But it was no AoM, that's for sure.
LOL You're still hyping Killzone 2. I guess when it flops you can find a series that had 2 flops and then had a hit. Maybe GTA fills that bill. If you look hard enough I'm sure you'll find something that will make you feel good about Killzone2.
Anyone can bet the longshot, but they usually lose. Granted if it pays off...woohoo, but it most likely won't payoff.
