@valgaav_219: mid-gen would be 2019(for next gen)
@SolidTy: Console gens generally last 5-6, aside from the PS3 gen. 2019 would be 6 years and would make sense since PS4 came out Nov 2013, with the mid-gen upgrade(Pro) Nov 2016, so ps5 Nov 2019. So simple, yet people can't see it.
@ronvalencia: What??? Lol No, you won't being able to play ps5 games on a PS4, but you sure could play a PS4 game on a ps5. Just like a Blu-ray Xbox one game plays on a Xbox one S or X.

The problem is mainstream DRAM price progression. Both MS and Sony stayed with GDDR5-6800 and GDDR5-7000 respectively.
Sony is already paying for GDDR5-5600/6000 parts for PS4...
GDDR5-5600 to GDDR5-7000 after 3 years may point to GDDR5-8000 or 9000 RX-470/RX-570 price segments in year 2019.
South Korean dominance in DRAM industry is not good.
@ronvalencia: Umm MS never had GDDR5 RAM. They will once the X is released. Sony's had it since 2013. Not sure what point you're trying to make, but I'm sticking with my Nov 2019 date.

GDDR5 chips are commodity products.
MS's GDDR5-6800 and Sony's GDDR5-7000 chips are common with RX-470 (GDDR5-6600) and RX-570 (GDDR-7000) price segments.
I expect GDDR5-8000 for RX-670 and GDDR5-9000 for RX-770.
X1X used RX-470's level GDDR5-6800 chips into 384 bit wide bus.
MS has GDDR5 with Surface Studio with NVIDIA GeForce GTX 980m (Maxwell GM204 architecture) GPU.
MS's Surface Book 2 has up to GTX 1060 (Pascal GP106 architecture).
2020 at the very least. They may want to release it later, however. It all depends on how the hardware market is doing right now.
Its coming 2018-2020 with 2019 being the most possible date. My predictions never fail. I also stand on my previous one PS4 pro S will come out and the regular PS4 will get discontinued, probably next year.
Revealed 2021 and released in 2022........ They have no reason to rush it out the gates....
You really have some pessimistic vision of the future, 2022 would be 9 years since PS4 release, last gen lasted 7 and in comparison to that gen the PS4 is under-powered as fu**, pray for late 2019 launch unless you wanna see gaming being held back to hell and beyond because of ancient weak hardware

They have PS4 games in development that will release 2019.....TLOU2 and maybe Death Stranding as I can't see that being released next year either.
So are people trying to say that they'll reveal PS5 the year after they've pumped out 2+ massive titles for the system? Especially as while PS4 has been on the market a few years now, the Pro hasn't and it would be killing off that system after only a few years.
And as I already said, they have no reason to rush it out for the sake of it, PS4 is still selling well and it's definitely not showing any signs of development of AAA games slowing down.
It would be poor business to replace a console early and loose money just for the sake of it.
Also 2019 won't be long enough for much of a GPU difference compared to Pro/Scorpio.
