Looks pretty hype to me, but I'm biased. I'm a little iffy on the direct use of the face and voice of David Harbour, even though I like the dude. Hard to separate him from Stranger Things, but whatever. On other hand, Jodie Comer seems like a great fit. Game looks promising.

I'm ready for utter disappointment but I'm liking what I see. The original is amongst my all time favourite games, seeing that this game uses the original as reference gives me hope.

I really like the choice of actors although I can't stop thinking that money should be used elsewhere.

The soundtrack seems top tier.

The director of the game also was a very solid choice.

And although it's just marketing, seeing the original creator on their promotional video makes me happy.

I'll take a break from Zelda just to play the prologue.

I love the original, but it's been quite a while since I've enjoyed one of those. Hopefully this one fixes that.

Definitely. But then again, those are some great choices, and they'll do the game justice, undoubtedly. You get what you pay for.

This is so long overdue it ain't even remotely funny. Parasite Eve remake, too.

Maybe after DD2 and MH6.

The playable teaser on PC has shader compilation stutters.

Because of course it does: Jedi, The Last of Us, Gollum, ... That's 4 high profile games in the past two months alone.

Setting it in the past like the original, good starting point.

It looks too focused on action. The original build up slow atmosphere, even with it's rudimentary graphics still works in that regard.

Don't really want to play "Evil Within" again, I hated that game.

Never played the OG game, just the Dreamcast & 360 games, and enjoyed them enough to finish them. So will keep an eye on this.

@uninspiredcup: Yeah, the original had very little action by modern standards. But I'll take Evil Within over Resident Evil if I could pick an influence.

I'm okay with the idea, if I wanted to experience the old PC games I could probably get those on GOG or Steam.

Anyhow, they tried rebooting this 15 year ago and it was a bust. So, if it bombs no surprise, but if it pleasantly surprises... well, good.

So is this the third game in the series called Alone in the Dark?

There was the 1992 game (which heavily inspired Resident Evil), then the 2008 game, and now a new one.

It's a remake of the first game, 1992 (PC).

There are 7 games in the series, if you include this.

Honestly, if just gonna ape one of these think it's really lazy.

The horror genre has expanded in many directions and just making it some bang bang game is kinda boring.

@uninspiredcup: I really hope it doesn't just do that but I'm not expecting them to reinvent the wheel. This director gives me some confidence, Soma is a brilliant game.

Unfortunately the way they showed the puzzles is a bit disappointing and it's more concerning to me than the modernization of the combat. This seems to be the typical lame RE style puzzles while in the original AitD puzzles were better contextualised within the world and occasionally completely optional as a way to avoid combat. Like in the opening you could drag the furniture to block the access of enemies to the attic, or you could poison the wine to clear all enemies of a room. Use a record player so that ghosts would start dancing granting you access to your objective or cover a cursed painting with a carpet so it wouldn't see and kill you... etcetera etcetera. Things were kinda grounded and intuitive, the world was of course a fantasy, but it made sense. It would be much more interesting if they used an environmental approach to puzzle solving like in the original than what they seem to be doing here. And kind of surprising too, since in Soma one of the first puzzles is you locked in a room, with the game tricking you to think that you have to do some kind of traditional puzzle yet the solution is to simply pick a chair and break a window instead.

But they shown very little so I won't be too judgemental. And after this showing and the prologue I'm still confident that the game will at least be better than all the other AitD games that aren't the original.

@TheHighWind: Would be fine if they changed it honestly. The people behind it are talented, so there's hope.

I'm glad they are remaking the most dated video game of all time. However I think it's not the most faithful remake. More of a rebootmake.
