What's your favorite graphical showpiece of 2016?

I'm without a doubt going to have to say Gears of War 4, while there's a level of graphical inconsistency and sometimes things can look a bit washed out or muddy, there are other times as well, especially at night where it just blows anything else out of the water.

I also have to give them mad props for the foliage simulation, it's the best in any game without question.

What's your 2016 graphical showpiece?

Gears of War 4 looks great no doubt, I think it looks best during the storm, or wind flare scenes. But I think Forza Horizon 3 looks better. Best looking game of this gen on consoles in my opinion.

Gears of War 4 looks great

My pick is Dishonored 2. Eventhough there are graphical powerhouses like GeoW 4, ROTTR or Battlefield 1, Dishonored 2 can really shine at times, making you wonder if you are really playing a video game or looking into a different world.

I'll post a screenshot but really I don't think it does justice to seeing this world shine for yourself :)

Apart from that I love the weather effects kicking in in Battlefield 1 :)

Star Citizen Alpha. No game comes close in awwwn scope.

Uncharted 4 takes my best graphics of 2016 award.

The Division, during a snow storm. No other game comes close to capturing the feel of a big city during a snow storm and I love it.

Gears 4, Uncharted 4, Forza Horizon 3 and BF1 also great lookers this year

Doom looked great and ran exceptionally well.

Gears 4 and UC4 for me. Both excellent looking games.

Uncharted 4 and/or Ratchet & Clank. Ordered BF1 on Black Friday and I'm expecting that to wow me. Still boycotting Tomb Raider for now.

Rise of the Tomb Raider looks pretty good on my PC.

Rapture on PC which was released earlier this year.

I agree with most of the replies here, Gears of War 4 takes the crown.

I agree, Gears of War 4. The game also runs really well on Xone. Haven't tried it on PC but I hear it's great.

Yeah, the performance relative to the visuals is pretty impressive.

Paragon, Battlefield 1, Doom, and COD: Infinite Warfare also look amazing. It's hard to pick just one game. If I had to pick one I'd go with UC4 though.

Is this a joke? It's UC4 and you know it. A close second is ROTTR.

Uncharted 4, driving around Madasgacar with the red earth, green trees, blue skies and of course the vehicles and characters within it. Looks exceptional.

You should see it in HDR.

Mine would have to go to Uncharted 4. Looks completely bonkers with HDR in the higher res.

Lots of lookers this year. UC4 and R&C on PS4 are particularly notable, but the most impressive was DOOM IMO.

Lems will say gears 4 because they don't have access to the best nor can their system handle it.

There were so many this year. Uncharted 4, Ratchet and Clank, Doom, Quantum Break, Forza Horizon 3 are the few that comes to mind.

Between the two, it sure as shit is way superior especially if compared to the Bone version of Gears 4.

BF1 at 4K on the PC

Haven't played both, but they both look pretty from what I've seen from screenshots, videos, etc...

UC4 was literally an art in motion. Madagascar, Libertilia, New Devon and so on. I know there going to be the usual complaint about this pick as all of us are cows for choosing UC4. Let me just say this Its a shame this game will not have a capable hardware that can render it at a native 4k. Its literally art sometimes DAMN!!. F*** Madagasca is gonna come out well ps5 remester someday.

My comparisons are and always have been 100% on point.

You don't have the correct console to maximize each game...unless you picked them up recently?

HDR cannot be viewed by anyone but you so me having these consoles or not is a total irrelevance to a comparison, it's a display technology, not a graphics technology.

Throwing HDR in the loop is like trying to give a 120hz to 60hz comparison to a person with a 60hz display.

If affects the visual fidelity, but I see your point.

What about the PS4 pro and the added resolution and graphic options?

First off, I'm going to be comparing Gears of War 4 on Xbox One to Gears of War 4 on PC, we already know where the PC game stands up against Uncharted 4, it's obviously superior, I'd just like to see how far off Gears on Xbox is to its PC counterpart and then that could realistically be gauged against Uncharted 4.

What about the PS4 Pro? Why would I compare an Xbox One game to a console in which its direct competition has still not released? Scorpio is the PlayStation 4 Pro's flip side of the coin, not the Xbox One or S model, the PlayStation 4 is its graphical contender.

My mistake I thought you were comparing uncharted 4 to gears of war 4. We're talking about different things.

How optimized is GOW 4 on pc?
