Games today can be complicated lol. They take up your time and require your focus and attention. But what games do you like to play when you just want to relax and have fun? Mine are games like Smash Bros, Call of Duty, and Forza Horizon. I don't have to worry about progression or following the story. I just go out there and play.

How about you, SW? What's your favorite game to play when just want to relax and have fun?

Probably Overwatch. Or some roguelike, like Binding of Isaac or Dead Cells. Easy games to just jump into.

At times, I like to play Forza Horizon 4 as my favorite relaxing game their is that's not serious and enjoying the few. Plus, it helps when you own Xbox One X taking advantage of playing it in 4K giving you that extra relaxing flavor.

For me, I think No Man's Sky is the perfect game to be able to relax and boy, I do have alot of fun while playing it. Being in Space, it's just so peaceful when you look across the galaxy it just gives you that good relaxing feeling. So yeah, if you a good relaxing game, No Man's Sky is as relaxing as they come.

Agreed roguelikes are great to jump into to relax they never get old. Choice picks for me being Isaac, ftl, spleunky, neo scavenger and sword of the stars the pit. I like to unwind with some vr skyrim and blood bowl 2 also.

It use to be F.E.A.R. combat but I really don't play any MP games anymore so the closest thing to relax would be free roaming in Mirror Edge Catalyst the music in this game just puts me in a zen state.

Just Cause 3 or 4, the amount of crazy stuff you can come up with the tethers, balloons etc is just fun.

here's just one vid with a lot of funny stuff, but a LOT of people only cared about its frame rate issues (nerdy hermits) to have fun

@warmblur: I love the first mirrors edge it's very special to me. Dice's best work personally. I've lost count how many times I've finished it. The ost is so engrossing and fitting to the gameplay.

Right now , Dreams is my favorite. I can just chill and experience many different types of games , even while listening to podcasts. Everybody's Golf is a good one too.

Yeah, it's one of my favorites too. I love the atmosphere so much I played it in VR a few times and it was a amazing experience to be so immersed in that world it's one of the highlights of this gen for me.

Sea of Thieves is perfect. It's gorgeous to look at, and has the type of no pressure gameplay I'm looking for after playing more hectic games....

  • Civ 6 - It may still be complicated, but it doesn't require constant focus because it's turn-based.
  • Slay The Spire - Best game featuring cards
  • Retro stuff
  • Link's Awakening
  • Other stuff

Dragon Quest XI. I didn't like it at first but after 18 hours with the game I'm getting into it. It relaxes me before I go to sleep at night.

Boring for me at first, around the 6 hour mark I thought it was slightly interesting but then I got bored again for a few hours. And now at the 18 hour mark I'm enjoying it again.

I could say No Man's Sky, Everybody's Golf, or Dragon Quest Builders but personally I take those games too seriously.

Nice thread. I like to stroll around in the world of Witcher 3, complete a few easy side quests and perhaps even take some screenshots. The game is for the most part pretty easy, so it feels relaxing to play.

Those hidden object games that grandmas and cat ladies like. They remind me of old games and don't take a lot of thought.

My go to relaxation games are fighting games like Persona 4: Arena, Jstars, or some Tekken. I also love little musou games where you just destroy waves of enemies like One Piece: Pirate Warriors 3 or Attack on Titan. They're not really difficult games and they don't really take much time either.

Destiny 2 WAS my fav fun game. All you do is shoot aliens mindlessly. They all respawn 1 minute later so you just shoot them all over again. For some reason it's a very addicting game.

You know, I have Just Cause 3 and never really gave it a go. I'm going to install it now because of this post lol.

The game and its options really open up when you gain access to all 8 tethers. But try tethering a cow to a civilian vehicle and the like, or tether an enemy to a gas bottle before shooting the top of the gas bottle and watch it fly high in the sky with the enemy attached screaming his arse off, funny stuff.

Or try finding some of the easter eggs which I won't spoil as some are really cool.

4 has a cow gun that lets you turn every civilian into a cow, I kid you not.

These games encourage using your imagination/experimentation and some things work first go while others taken a few tries while slightly altering things. I have about 400hrs into part 3 just messing around.

Cities: Skylines. Very relaxing and fun. It's not too complex (unless you go nuts with city design), but it's deep enough not to be boring.

The is this game I have been playing since 2010-2011 called Triple Town for mobile phone. Its a really great time waster but I really hated the fact your coin that you spend so hard to collect goes back to 0 if you change phones. Dude I bought the game its not free edition.

Really fun game to timesink and relaxing.

Off the top of my head if say games like dead cells and rocket league. Games where there really is no end and no extreme stakes. Good time wasters.

MIrror's Edge was actually the first game I beat in VR it was pretty sweet it's amazing seeing it in VR isn't it. But yeah I agree Catalyst is underrated and gets so much hate I think going open world was the right move and if they ever make a third game I hope it remains open world but with more interiors and activities.

It's not a game but google VR is so relaxing just exploring places you grew up and the ambient music that plays just brings up all these feelings of comfort and nostalgia.
