What's The Most Over-Rated Series in Gaming?

Zelda definitely, one of the few franchises that game a pass for doing the same thing over and over. Every single 3D zelda is designed like OOT. Going from transition to transition barely anything gets added and if something is added it's not significant.

Assassin's Creed by far.

Out of that list I'd say Uncharted... currently. Each of those 3 have been hyped beyond belief at some point.

Halo, first game was a masterpice, the rest r sh!t.

CoD sells 30x more than shooters that are better than it.

The Elder Scrolls on wins GOTY with every entry because its big, i guess thats all that matters lol.

Demon Souls won GOTY because its hard (And cheap hard at that).

Half Life.

I see absolutely NO negative criticism around this series.

Everyone praises the hell out of Half Life 2, calling it the best game ever and raising it to some sort of undeserved, god-like status.

The game is a mediocre shooter. It was ahead of its time, but times have changed.

By today's standards, it's pretty bad. It feels underdeveloped and boring.

I have to say it's a toss up between

Portal Series- I honestly liked Valve tell this series came out which just shows how much people kiss their ass cause but w/e it's made by valve so they can do w/e they want. The only decent VA in the series was Wheatly, Glados...oh god I fing hate Glados, she was so GD annoying, I thought no one could get more whiny than Tidus from FFX but she is very close. There's no variety in the portal games except in the puzzles, you're always locked in a square room solve puzzle, go down a corridor rinse and repeat for the next few hours...are you serious people complain about no variety in other games that basically do the whole "point A to point B" thing but the Portal games and Valve get a "get out of jail" card cause they are Valve??. If the Portal games had some open worldness to them say like Mirrors Edge quality to their puzzles and game, I would give them two thumbs up and I would love to play a Portal game like that.

I think the original Portal is the most overrated game this gen (and the only overrated game this gen), but dude, your criticisms are all kinds of weak.

Gears of war

this is the correct answer. every halo game this gen has been brilliant but gears of war is awful. It's nowhere near as fun as uncharted the story sucks, the characters are bland and uninteresting.

I can see why lems love halo it's one of the best shooters around but gears is an awful franchise which will have multiple sequels and spin offs.

I am really into space/scifi type games like this so i should love it, and I did enjoy being a jerk in the game...but it didnt really do much for me. Cod but enveryone knows that except for maybe finalstar. On the other hand the God of War series is one of the most overated piece of garbage in gaming history. MGS, easily. MGS4 game mechanics were 99% already there in MGS2 and the rest was all cut scenes and yes I do love the boss fights but it sure doesn't deserve a 10 here, or even the obligatory 8.5 for that matter.

It has to be Uncharted, it's a series that doesn't deserve as much praise as it has recieved. Halo put console FPS on the map, but what has Uncharted done? Nothing. It's just a better Tomb Raider, completely overrated (still a good game though).

I'd say the half life series. Half Life is great and was amazing for its time. HL2 is alright at best, episode one is worse, and episode two is good. Definitely not the amazing series that a bunch of people make it out to be.

I could understand the zealotry FF has; FF7 and 8 were the first games ever played by a lot of people, that's why they're regarded highly even if they're nothing special, especially considering Square's previous works.

AC on the other hand...holy ****. *Nothing* in them is done well. The AC franchise really shows how much advertising can influence a game's reception.

I voted Uncharted in the poll because Halo is not as badly hyped as it once was, not that I've seen.

Elder Scrolls, and no mods don't count because they are modifications that YOU have to add to a game that has weak gameplay with a big world that never seems to improve within the un-modded series. Why is Skyrim's melee combat so bad, like it was in the past?

This implies that killing enemies is the point of Mario games which you know it isn't, it is platforming challenges, hence why it is a Platformer. If killing enemies was Mario's main focus I probably wouldn't play it because it is bad at that.

Halo by far. Every game in the series is the same and they can also get away with releasing DLC as a full retail game.
