What's The Most Over-Rated Series in Gaming?

tough call between final fantasy and call of duty

I have to say it's a toss up between

Portal Series- I honestly liked Valve tell this series came out which just shows how much people kiss their ass cause but w/e it's made by valve so they can do w/e they want. The only decent VA in the series was Wheatly, Glados...oh god I fing hate Glados, she was so GD annoying, I thought no one could get more whiny than Tidus from FFX but she is very close. There's no variety in the portal games except in the puzzles, you're always locked in a square room solve puzzle, go down a corridor rinse and repeat for the next few hours...are you serious people complain about no variety in other games that basically do the whole "point A to point B" thing but the Portal games and Valve get a "get out of jail" card cause they are Valve??. If the Portal games had some open worldness to them say like Mirrors Edge quality to their puzzles and game, I would give them two thumbs up and I would love to play a Portal game like that.

Call Of Duty- Outside of Black Ops (loved the cold war/vietnam setting) the series has been the worst series in gaming, given the MP can be fun for awhile but for the SP I'm sick and tired of seeing Nazis, a M16 rifle in my hands and a bad guy that wants to nuke the world has BEEN DONE TO DEATH. BO2 looks interesting since it has future tech and I'm a sucker for sci-fi/possible future tech, other than that...ugh

Every Rockstar game this gen, even Red Dead Redemption. I was originally not interested in RDR but everyone here seemed to love it and my IRL friends were on my case to get it and when I finally got it... I was so disappointed. I thought it would be the greatest thing since sliced bread the way everyone made it out to be.dracolich55

on that list, it's easily Uncharted for me. Admittedly, I've only played the second, but I just don't understand why such a vast number of people enjoy it and to the degree that they do. Everything in it besides the presentation is below average...

I enjoyed Portal 2 cause of Wheatlys humor and it was entertaining for a few hours, but people who admire the series need to un buckle their Valve worshipping knee pads.

Halo....which is slightly above gears.

Edit: check that, someone reminded me of skyrim . That game sucks pretty badly.

Half Life.

I see absolutely NO negative criticism around this series.

Everyone praises the hell out of Half Life 2, calling it the best game ever and raising it to some sort of undeserved, god-like status.

The game is a mediocre shooter. It was ahead of its time, but times have changed.

By today's standards, it's pretty bad. It feels underdeveloped and boring.

They're pretty good but, I don't think of them as top PC game or anything, just really good games.

i honestly think that the metal gear solid games are average because they have always been weak in the atmoshpere department and i always thought the stories were a bit wierd tbh.

I don't know if they're over rated, but I didn't like Gears of War or Portal as much as most people seem to. In fact, I didn't really enjory them all.

Halo, Mass Effect, Final Fantasy, Fable, Dead Rising. I will NEVER understand the appeal for these franchises. This is coming from someone who adores science fiction, RPGs and zombies.

• Assassin's Creed (even though AC3 may be the best game this year)

Halo is easily the most overrated, the games aren't even good. Second most overrated is probably Mass Effect although the games are fairly decent.
