Probably Sonic the Hedgehog 2.
That's not close to the first time I played a video game. I mean, before that I had a buddy with an NES, and I'd spend hours at his place playing Nintendo games with him. I begged my parents to buy me an NES too, but they were like, "nope". So, I was into games for a while, but my parents wouldn't buy me an NES (or later, a SNES). Instead, my dead grandmother (may her soul rest in peace) got me a freaking Vectrex. A VECTREX, man. And my dad had an Amiga PC and an Atari ST at the time and would occasionally "buy" me some games every once in a while. But a lot of those games were sort of shit. I had the most fun with the Atari 7800 that they gave me. Some of those games were a hell of a lot of fun, like Joust or Food Fight, and I played some of them a lot, but none of that could compare to the wow factor I got when I went to my buddy's house and played Super Mario Bros or Contra.
Finally my parents bought me a Sega Genesis with Sonic 2. And that was the shit. Played the hell out of that, and the available library on the Genesis beat the hell out of anything on Vectrex or 7800. Granted, we still had PCs, but that was before PC became "the master race". Not to say that there weren't good games available, but there was a whole lot of bullshit back then.
Eventually my parents upgraded their PC and I got to play more modern games like Doom and Tomb Raider. And eventually my parents also bought me a Playstation for Christmas along with Final Fantasy VII. But Sonic 2 on Sega Genesis was probably my first experience actually having a kickass gaming experience in my own home, as opposed to just gaming at other people's houses and then playing bullshit once it was time for me to go home.
