What videogame franchise would make you buy a new console if it was/became exclusive to that console?

What videogame/videogame franchise would make you buy a new console if it was/became exclusive to that console?

Ex: For myself, I bought a PS3 back in the day when Metal Gear solid 4 launched (the limited edition bundle.). I didn’t care what other games were on it at the time, I just needed my Metal Gear fix lol.

I would imagine if they made a Metal Gear solid 6 (and the Kojima-KONAMI wars never happened.) I would probably do the same if the situation presented itself.

I know some people feel the same about franchises like Uncharted, Gears of war/Halo, or Zelda.

Anyone got any crazy stories of games that made you buy a console regardless of what else was on that system?

I get every system at the latest once there's a NIS game on it. So any NIS game counts (NIS as a dev, not NISA as a publisher mind you)

However, I usually get all systems on launch with the exception of xBoxes, I usually get them once there's a new Halo on it.

I followed the dev'ing of Halo CE for a long time and once MS bought Bungie and made it a FPS Xbox exclusive I was a day one buyer baby.

That and the fact Project Gotham Racing which I knew was the spiritual successor to Metropolitan Street Racer on Dreamcast was also launching with Xbox was just more icing on an already tasty cake. :P

Persona, I got a vita solely for it

I always buy all 3, but if there were one franchise that isn't already an exclusive that would make me decide on one or the other, I suppose it would be Resident Evil.

Got a Ps3 for MGS4 and a Wii U for Bayonetta 2. I may get a switch if Bayonetta 3 is announced for it, otherwise I won't get another console again.

Elder Scrolls, Gears of War, Hitman just to name a few

Metal Gear Solid 4 on PS3. Forza 6 on Xbox One. I don't like doing that though, I rather buy less consoles.

In the past, the answer has been Elder Scrolls, Mario Kart, and Pokemon. Since 2013, Persona has been added to the list as well.

The only console exclusive franchise ever to seriously tempt me to buy a console are the Soul Calibur games.

Other than that, if all the strategy games (real-time and turn-based) were to pack up and move off the PC, I would probably follow them.

Mortal Kombat or COD....

TLOU 2 and Bloodborne 2.

Street Fighter has been the closes game to make me consider buying a PS4 just to play the game. But at this rate as long as gears and halo are out on the Xbox then it shall be an xbox for me.

It's a shame because BB would have been better on PC (as we saw with DS3). A Souls game should be locked at 60fps min with no frame dips for that butter smooth control.

I don't buy systems for one game, but i would hate if The Elder Scrolls VI, Cyberpunk 2077, RDR2 and Left 4 Dead 3 were exclusives to a platform i don't have.

Wouldnt buy a gaming machine for just one franchise or game no matter what it was.

I'd buy any system that had the next Jedi Knight game on it day 1.

@videogameninja: I bought my Dreamcast and Gamecube primarily for Resident Evil games. Sadly the series has gone so far downhill I don't even bother buying it for the systems I already have. Luckily, both Dreamcast and Gamecube ended up having quite a few fun games beyond RE that really shined.

I always buy the new gen Playstation, so I bought PS4 as the primary and am waiting to see what the Nintendo NS brings to the table as a possible secondary (just like the PS2 days).

Shenmue! I did it with the first Xbox.

@ni6htmare01: I may have bought my Dreamcast to play RE Code Veronica but I keep my Dreamcast to play Shenmue. Regardless of the lack of an ending it became one of my favorite series of all time. I'm still in disbelief that the third game is finally happening and on PS4/PC no less. I hope it's successful enough to warrant a 4th and final game with an ending without crowd funding.

I'm not proud of it but I have bought almost every console a Kingdom Hearts game has ever come out for. Of course I played a lot of other games on them too. I'm contemplating if I should get a PS4 Pro for 2.8 in a couple of weeks or wait a bit for prices to drop.

I got a Vita for Persona 4 Golden and played almost nothing else on it. Great console, no exclusives.

Nothing that makes jumps out at me. I always get the impulse to purchase a system if I see something I want, but it's nothing specific.

I mean Shenmue 2 ( full English ) for Xbox.. come think of it.. I also bought Wii-U for Bayonetta 2 and never I will be do that again.. no more nintendo console unless it brew me away with their offer!

I own all 3 as well, but i'd be mario for me.

I guess if Forza became exclusive i would rebuy an Xbox...

There are a lot that could do it, mainly IP's from the camps of SEGA, LucasArts, Capcom, and Nintendo. In the past, I've bought systems for Sonic, Rogue Squadron, Pokemon, Halo, and Zelda.

If FROMSOFT was purchased by MS and they kept on pumping their quality stuff, i'd have to buy the Bone. But then again, X1 has no exclusives, everything would be on the MS store and i already have a pc.

I bought a ps2 slim just to play ff12

Maybe Soul Calibur and a Sands of Time style Prince of Persia.

Edit: I will buy a Switch if they make an F-Zero.

The Forza is a new one. FH 3 renewed my interest in racing games.

I always get Nintendo''s consold first because their franchise quality has always been garaunteed.

I switched from PS2 to Xbox when my PS2 broke I don't think I've moved or would move for an exclusive title per say.

That said, my move from 360 to PC was in a way because of an exclusive. I would see the footage of Battlefield 3 running on PC, then see what I was playing on 360 and it was enough for me to make the jump, it was like a different game. As someone who isn't into Nitendo titles it would be fair to say not only am I missing out least (considering the wealth of smaller titles that are only on Steam) but I get the best presentation and performance on PC.

In all honesty... I put it in my top 3 games of all time. Not just among Final Fantasy games either. That open world stuck a chord with me.... and setting up gambits for each specific mob when trying to get rare/ ultimate weapons was a blast.

I still remember Danjuro farming runs. Good times.

Summons were a let down tho.

I'm waiting for an MLB the show bundle with the PS4 so I guess MLB the show is my answer.

There isnt a single game or two that would make me do such a thing. RENTING is the solution to that. I rent a console with a game of my choice for as much as 3$ to 5$ per day , depends the system. That saves me alot of money and space.

I buy products based on overall value , means way more games than one or two that i like among other factors

EDIT : I forgot to say that there were games in the PAST when i was really young that made me buy a console or a PC or wanting one liek crazy . Street Fighter 2 , Mortal Kombat and 2 , Tekken , Counter strike 1.5 to name a few

I grew up with Pokémon and Zelda. I still play these franchises to this day. I usually by any Nintendo console on Day 1 with no questions asked.

The Last of Us. Also, I'll go to wherever a good Metroid is.

Road Rash if it's as funny as the 3DO original. It doesn't matter what platform it lands on.

@360ru13r: Street fighter is another franchise that would reeeaaaally make me reconsider if it suddenly went exclusive to a console I didn't own. That's also a big thing to take into account when you realize that the entire street fighter competitive community is now console/pc exclusive (at least in regards to Street fighter 5.).

Metroid and Mario Kart are the only two console games I absolutely can't do without. However, Splatoon could end up on my list as well.

I bought PS4 for TLoUR, UC4 and believe it or not, KZSF ( a lot of people think it's shit but I like it ), I purchased X1 for Halo 5, GOW4, I got WiiU for Mario 3D, Super Mario Bros U and DKC TF.

Cool to have money to burn in the stuff you like.
