What system is likely to take GotY this year?

This isn't a question asking you what game will win Game of the Year- that, of course, is very hard to predict overall. But this is a question being raised about whichsystem will take GotY this year- that's slightly easier to predict, after all.

After all, it's been easy to keep track of the great releases this year, so it shouldn't be that hard to figure out which system has the highest probability of getting GotY, right?

So which one do you think will it be?

Personally, I think the Wii U has GotY in the bag this year- it has Mario kart 8, Super Smash Bros., and of course, it has Bayonetta. Hell, it even has one of the dark horse candidates in Shovel Knight. I think the Xbox One and PC (with games like Forza Horizon 2, Sunset Overdrive, Titanfall, Divinity, and Hearthstone) are next in line; multiplats like Dark Souls II may have a shot as well. The 3DS I guess comes next with its own Super Smash Bros., Bravely Default, and Pokemon.

PS4 and Vita will round up the pack (although of course, if a multiplat ends up winning, that is a win for PS4 as well).

So, guy- what system will take it this year? Will it be Wii U? Or something else?

Either Wii U, or it will be a multiplat.

WiiU has some probably the best chance for an exclusive GOTY

WiiU. Bayonetta 2 will take the prize home. I'd be stoked if Shovel Knight won the prize though.

I think Wii U will bring in a lot of butt hurt through the end of the year. Hopefully sheep will remain humble.

Damn I miss that show. I usually don't do these online quiz things, but I took a legitimately tricky one on Breaking Bad earlier today. Had to just guess on a couple of the questions, but still got them all right.

Yeah, either way I see it though, WiiU has this year locked up on GS. GotY chances are very much stacked in its favor. Smash is almost guaranteed AAA (that's my bet), but AAAA isn't out of the question... and would be fucking hilarious lol.

My personal goty is DkS2 (maybe DA:I if its as big as skyrim but as fun as DA:O) but i really hope Divinity:OS wins so we have a sequel to this great game. I'd love to see Divinity 2 with a much bigger budget, it could even work on ps4 if touch pad is used

Ha, I took that quiz too, I know the one you are talking about. It had some doozies in it. I ended up scoring 76% 'Getting there but not quite Heisenberg purity level yet.' Breaking Bad was so amazing *sigh*

You're forgetting most people over 8 years old won't go anywhere near Wii U as every dev making a AAA title laughs at it so it's basically Mario Kart, Zelda or some other happy horseshit or nothing.

Game Of The Year will be decided across all platforms and will never be agreed upon anyway. I think Dragon's Age Inquisition could be in with a shout if Bioware finally deliver their classic RPG experience. That won't be on Wii U though, so for you, doesn't count. You could have at least made some kind of minimal effort in your OP to disguise the fact you are a screaming out and out Nintendo fanboy.

Bayo2 for GOTY. I called it months ago. It'll take something incredible to stop it. Either that or a mega bribe from either of the twins. Either that or SSBU reclaims the crown. Either way the biggest competition against the Wii U will probably be the Wii U.

If it's an exclusive, then probably Bayonetta 2. However I really think a multiplat like Dark Souls 2, Dragon Age III or even Assassin's Creed Unity could win it this year.

I loved Forza Horizon 2 but I doubt that will take the win. Sunset Overdrive was a big surprise and I'm sure someone will give it a GOTY.

Love Bayonetta 2, but its ten rating does not guarantee it Game of the Year. If anything, the ten gives Gamespot more freedom to select a dark-horse candidate. How? No one will question Gamespot's assertion that Bayonetta 2 is awesome, because it got a ten. So choosing some other game for recognition in a big way will not negate that, and it will also make Gamespot look unpredictable and varied.

Wii U is the only next gen system I own and care about (at this point in time), so I am biased. But it just has some awesome games.

Wii U or PC. Xbone and WaitStation 4 have had nothing to talk about this year.

Wii U, maybe PC. Xbox and PS4 don't have any GOTY worthy exclusives.

Xbone did have great exclusives though. It's the Nogamestation 4 that has nothing.

Let me get this right..... You're asking which platform will win "Game" Of The Year ?

Wii U with Smash Bros. and I'd like to think Bayonetta 2, but I feel it doesn't have enough broad appeal to entice the GS staff. PC might be able to get it with Divinity, but broad appeal might cause it not to as well. In the multi-plat department, I'd say Dark Souls 2, Dragon Age, (if it's good) have a good chance. I don't see AC:U getting GOTY, I'm sure it'll get a 9 though.

Wii U easily has 3 out of 5 or 10 GOTY slots.

My own personal favorite is Divinity : Original Sin . Easily the best I've played this year (by far) .

Honestly I wasnt aware that Systems were in the running for GOTY (Game of the Year).

I thought it was just games, but apparently systems are games now.

Just becuz your system exclusive game gets GOTY doesnt mean your system was the best that year. Take the PS3 in 2008, it got MGS4 as GOTY but the PS3 itself was still a huge disappointment that year.

A multiplat would be my guess. But winning GOTY 2014 is not saying much, over all its been a very weak year.

I am going to predict that either the Wii U or PC will take it. Wii U is obvious with Bayonetta 2 or Super Smash Bros U but for PC, Divinity might steal the show.
