What really popular franchises have you not played or aren't into?

I know this is a pretty standard answer when it comes to this question, but I'm just not a big fan of Assassin's Creed games. They just seem to tedious for me. From the story, to the gameplay, I get bored pretty quickly. Other franchises I can think of.. when it comes to Nintendo, I love certain franchises, but then there are games like Animal Crossing that I don't see what makes people think this is fun lol. It just seems very time consuming with very little reward. And then there's MOBA type games like League of Legends which I've never played. I just don't see the fun in clicking my mouse a million times. Well anyway..

How about you, SW? What really popular franchises have you not played or aren't into?

Fortnite. The random setting and building doesnt appeal to me. I played the first assasins creed, but found the next tediuos.

Well Fortnite and PUBG are definitely one’s that immediately comes to mind. It’s not necessarily that I don’t like those types of games just that those two games in particular looked that appealing to me.

Those are the few that comes to mind. But, it doesn't really matter at the end of the day. We have a variety of games for a variety of gamers, so its all good.

Damn. Some FP games are really great.

I just can‘t get into that tunnel vision view. All I see is my gun , knife or fist really bother me somehow.

I understand just that some games are hindered by the third person perspective.

Maybe in future when they bring those games out in VR I might give them a try. At least I will not feel like I’m stuck in a tunnel vision where I couldn’t tell when people come after me on the side lol.

Most of the major third party games, like ass creed, gta, cod, battlefield, watch dogs. All cut and paste and generically designed

Street fighter: I played this game briefly before mortal Kombat came out. Mortal Kombat, starting with 3, included the run button and I couldn’t get back to street fighter “slower” pace.

Zelda :OOT. I <3 Zelda, but I didn’t like the N64 games. I’m not sure why, I just don’t.

Halo, Gears of war, stealth games (except MGS, I have an obsession with that game), RPGs that have “random spawning”.

The 3D marios also I haven’t been into, though that could change very fast.

There are a bunch of franchises that I've never played or aren't in to. I've never played a Final Fantasy game for example, same with Metal Gear Solid. Plus there are specific games in franchises that I otherwise love, where I just didn't like a popular installment in the series... Breath of the Wild is the main one that comes to mind.

And I'm not into any kind of online MP game in general. Just not my thing.

Jrpgs. I really want to like these games. Art style, settings, stories all appeal to me, but the battle systems usually don't hold my attention.

Part of it is they tend to be long, I got 80 hours into Persona 4 before I gave up on it. Any other genre that would have been long enough to complete.

Mostly though, the gameplay isn't fun to me. Turn based systems feel like you're just navigating menus. Real time systems are more compelling, but still feel limited compared to an action game.

The only ones I've ever finished are Grandia 2, and Baten Kaitos Origins. Grandia worked because it's battle system has srpg elements and I tend to like those games. BKO worked because, despite being card based, it required quick thinking and fast reflexes.

Anything by modern day rockstar. Played RDR1, found it horribly overrated. Solid enough with its shooting/ atmosphere, but my God did people overblow how good it is. Then I played GTAV when it came out and found 70% of the game horribly boring, and the other 30% so stupidly simple that it felt insulting.

For all the flashy, complex programming they put into their games, they have yet to make anything that feels truly fun to play.

As for their old games, I quite enjoyed Manhunt.

I don't like Mario franchise. Also not into fps no matter which franchise but I did had fun with Destiny and recent CoD Modern Warfare.

That's funny that you're not into AC and yet like AC Japan, otherwise known as GoT, SM also took somethings from AC from what i heard, so you must not like those games too right lol.

Popular shit I don't like huh, well insert Sony's entire first party here. On MS front insert Gears of War & Halo here. Nintendo pretty much all of its first party you can insert here also.

Other popular stuff like Fifa/Madden/NBA2K/Fortnite/CoD you can throw on top of that other stuff.

Fallout ( new ones) and gears of war are both series I can’t for the life of me understand why are so popular!

Basically most Japanese games. I don't know what it is about them, but I just can't get into games like Final Fantasy, Metal Gear Solid, Dark Souls, and so on.

And I love just about everything else about Japan, so it's really weird.

I also don't like sports games in general, fighting games (MK, Street Fighter, etc), and so on.

Those are all really popular kinds of games and genres but I just can't get into them.

He does bring up a good point. All you care about is racing games lol. I'm sure there's a forum out there dedicated to that.

Dark souls just never got into the series.

anything multiplayer focused (especially competitive MP)....no interest at all. i do like some co-op but thats about it. even my favourite MMO (Guild wars)....well many debate if that even counts as an MMO. fortnite, PUBG etc...couldn't care less.

The souls series. Love the lore, love the map layout. love the aesthetic. love the way it's story is told. dont like the combat. there is a lot of combat so.....yeah. i tried demon souls and dark souls 2 and they just seem like an absolute grind. I may give sekiro a shot at some point as that seems to have addressed a lot of issues i have with souls games...maybe.

Uncharted: i got more enjoyment out of watching youtube videos of them than playing them. i have 1 and played the demo of 2 and i just didnt enjoy actually playing them at all. the enemies are bullet spunges and the gunplay and combat in general was just not fun. my favourite part was the quiet, more platforming focused parts at the start of the game. they are great games for showing off what the latest playstation can do but i would rather actually play something else. i generally prefer the Tomb raider games as combat is generally short (its also not great) and they are more exploration and platforming focused (though the platforming could be a lot better).

Persona: I tried Persona 5. completed the first dungeon and made a start on the second. i love the art direction and general vibe of the game. also graphics king for menus. The dungeons and combat were pretty good. But i dont like the "real life" stuff in the game and there is a lot of it. also the story just didn't grab my attention.

Etrian Odyssey (Ok probably not that popular): this was one of those series i was looking to try out for ages. some really old school dungeon crawling......sounded interesting. i got Etrian Odyssey Nexus for the 3DS but i just find it needs way WAY too much grinding.

Metal Gear Solid series. I liked 1 on the PS1. but way too many cutscenes that go on way too long and the stories seem to go too crazy after 1. some of the stuff i saw on the MGS story catch up application they released before 4 on the PS3 read like something from a really bad soap.

Battle royales and sadly, most rpgs nowadays. They are just too damn long and I don't have the time or patience

Was more popular than Crysis. It sold over 2 million copies back in 2008. It wasn't until 2010 did Crysis reach 3 million in sales and both released in 2007.

It is popular among fanbase but every gamer I encounter in real life never ever heard of STALKER at all. and they love Crysis.

Crysis was more mainstream but inferior to STALKER in literally every way.
