What is favorite setting/environment in a game?

I'm a fan of the Persona and Yakuza games setting of Tokyo and other cities. I also like the school elements in Persona where there's an element of mystery to it. Also like fantasy worlds in general. What about you, SW? What is favorite setting/environment in a game?

Sci-Fi.

A magical setting like FF12 ivalice is the best.

I like many. The retrofuturistic setting in the Fallout series is awesome. The Bioshock setting is easily one of my fav. But my fav is probably something similar to Stalker. Chernobyl'ish setting with abandoned factories, houses, forests and such. I feel like its the most immersive setting for a game.

setting/environment for me is completely irrelevant in a videogame

I love WWII and space (Interstellar is the best movie ever made), but there are no sci-fi games in my top 20 favourite games of all time. highest would be Mass Effect 2, perhaps top 30 somewhere. and there are literally zero good WWII games.

on the other end of the spectrum, I absolutely hate post-apocalyptic zombie games, yet TLOU and TLOU2 are both in my top 5 and top 10 GOAT list.

I like strange fantasy settings like Torment, Morrowind, and the "wonderland" of American McGee's Alice

I like a good historical setting. Replaying events that actually happened.

But I enjoy any setting as long as the world building is good:

Half Life, The Elder Scrolls, Dishonored, Horizon Zero Dawn, etc

Dark Souls is basically my favorite setting

Kind of a toss up for me between fantasy and sci-fi.

I've always loved mid-evil/Victorian settings where everyone talks as if they were from England lol

Examples: Bloodborne, Dark Souls, Final Fantasy

Bleak Fantasy or Sci-Fi. Ones where the choices you make are always shades of grey and no matter what you do you never know if it was the best decision. The ones without map markers or even maps.

Renaissance Italy, Assassin’s Creed 2. Most unique setting for a game ever. Whoever came up with that was a genius!

The direct opposite of post-apocalyptic New-York...

That's Suzaku Castle, it's in SFII but don't think it was named such as the time. It's also popped up in Brawl.

SFV is probably the best version.

Mass effect milky way is where I'd spend most of my time. It's why I miss the mass effect 1 formula so much. So many planets to drive around on, each unique in some way... I hope they expand these ideas in the next game.

Like:

• Historical settings
• Modern settings
• Science fiction

Dislike:

• High fantasy (Tolkien or D&D style) - The most dull, generic and boring setting ever

I like the mix of sci-fi and fantasy, like say Destiny for ex

Cyberpunk, Steampunk, dark fantasy are also among my favorites

Sci-fi and Fantasy in general.

If I had to pick one, I'd say Azeroth. Say what you want about Blizzard in the last few years, but they've really crafted a brilliant game world filled with a variety of races and animals and monsters.

I don't see it happening, but I'd love to see Blizzard make a first- or third-person action-RPG set in Azeroth with a really good game engine. It'd be a lot of fun I think.

Yeah, I wish they'd bring the ME remaster over to GP already. I really want to play through ME1 with all the improvements, from what I heard. ;)

And I can't wait for the new one and hope they do a great job with it unlike their last effort. :P

I love both, sci-fi and historical (and all the variants like steampunk, cyberpunk, fantasy, etc). To be honest modern setting is my least favourite, but of course, it depends of the game.
