I remember this game was considered a disappointment, but I actually enjoyed it. It was fun. Never really got into the multiplayer though. But as far as combat, it was great. And I guess for a God of War game, scoring an 80 on metacritic is pretty low lol. At the time, I think the series was going through franchise fatigue, which also contributed to the game's perception at the time. Now the franchise is back and kicking ass (God of War 2018 GOTY baby!!)

How about you, SW? What games considered a 'disappointment' did you actually enjoy?

Lol, I'll eventually get to AC Valhalla. Apparently it's Ubisoft's most successful game. You gonna try Immortals Fenix Rising?

@vl4d_l3nin: Spec Ops The Line was considered a disappointment ??? i mean it didn't got amazing reviews, but many agreed that the storyline was worth the price of admision. Personally i enjoyed it even if it was safe on the gameplay area.

Anyways, at the top of my head i would probably go with Metroid Other M. It wasn't as well received by the critics or fans in general, but for what it was, i had a lot of fun with it. I even dare to say is a bit underrated.

Dark Souls 2 was a huge disappointment for me, but is not like i hated my time with it, it was ok and i enjoyed it but i admit i haven't played it more than twice unlike the rest in the series.

The Legend of Zelda Spirit Tracks. Many hate this game, but damn i had fun with it ... mainly because of the charm, the music and the final boss battle.

No better answer than TLOU2. For many, it wasn't just a disappointment, but an abomination. That's some funny shit.

iirc, the game sold less than Duke Nukem Forever. It had horrible marketing that made it look like a standard modern military shooter that I think a lot of people were expecting.

@SolidGame_basic: With the amount of bugs Valhalla has (must just be me as a lot of my friends say they aren't experiencing my problems) from freezing which has cost me at least 20hrs of progress, to not loading and shit, i'm gonna hold off on it.

I'll wait until Ubi fix Valhalla, and by then the game will be dirt cheap as Ubi are painfully slow at fixing Valhalla 😔

Let's see...

-Bayonetta 2 (the only Bayonetta I have beat, one's final boss is damned annoying)

-Anything Elder Scrolls post Morrowind

-Anything modern Fallout NOT New Vegas (sans 76)

-Marvel Ultimate Alliance 3

@Archangel3371: I hated Too Human with a passion, that death sequence that you cant skip aaaaaargh 🤣🤣🤣

I dont know what i did wrong in that game but my gear was always shitty that it would take forever to beat the enemies and i would get overrun a LOT.

I did finish the game, but man i felt that getting a kick to the balls is less excruciating then Too Human 🤣🤣🤣

TLOU2 was my favourite game of last year, the gameplay was great and the length of the game was perfect. But yeah, i don't really get it. Just because Joel died around of the beggining of the game a lot of people hate it? I loved it. I love games/movies that kill main characters, and you don't see it coming. I had the same feeling with Game of Thrones when they killed of Ned and Rob Stark. That's one of the element that made them so great to me.

@i_p_daily: Yeah that lengthy death sequence really hurt the game, probably the most. Other then that I really dug the game. Could get into a pretty comfortable zone in the combat. A bit bummed that it ended on a pretty hard cliffhanger ending that we’ll likely never see concluded.

Quite a few for me.

Soul Calibur V. It lacked content and new characters were less interesting than the old ones, but the gameplay was faster and really fun.

Twisted Metal 4 and 2012. 4 was a big step up from 3. While it doesn't have the personality that 2 does, it is the most polished of the PS1 games. As for 2012, I hate the story and that they got rid of most of the characters, but gameplay is the best in the series.

Zelda: Skyward Sword. Most of the usual things people complain anout don't bother me. I liked the controls, and didn't mind revisiting locations. My only real issue with SS is it felt too much like OoT. Still a great game though.

Mirror's Edge Catalyst. Bogged down a bit by AAA design conventions, but no other series does 1st person parkor this well.

1080 Avalanche. Faster, more varied, and better than the original. Avalanche levels are still an impressive sight to behold, half expect my Gamecube to burst into flames rendering all that. Unfortunately, it came out the same year as SSX3, so it didn't stand a chance.

Motorstorm: Apocalypse. It's not as good as Pacific Rift, but it's so much more ambitious and over the top that I can forgive a few shortcomings.

Mortal Kombat: Deception - Apocalypse. A bit clunky compared to the new ones, but still fun and waaay better than the original trilogy. Plus actually 3D, I don't know what people have against side-stepping.

@Archangel3371: Shit i didnt even watch the ending 🤣

I liked the combat with swords and guns, but my weapons were always underpowered, and i couldn't figure out why, the systems for upgrades and the like was pretty shitty.

Steel Diver for the 3DS. This game was savaged by reviewers, but it was actually one of my favorite games on the system. I was disappointed they didn't continue the franchise.

Probably Arkham Knight.

Fully acknowledge the car stuff is mostly shit and completely obnoxious. It's also very obvious who the Arkham Knight is.

But as a Batman' experience, and closing the book, expanding all the other stuff thought it was superb.

Picked it up on a 75% discount alongside being patched up on PC, so that probably alleviated criticism somewhat.

I don't know why but I always think of Parasite Eve 2, one of my all time favourites. People didn't like it as much as the first one, and some even say it's just plain bad.

@blamix: I get doing it at the end of the game, but early on and force you to play as the one who killed him, its like taking a piss on your fans, its like duckmann has a massive ego and was just filling it.

Don't get me wrong i loved how it went down, gave me plenty of SW fuel to add to the fire lol.

But I yeah, the negative press did affect it because it didn't sell as many as the first game did.

Sales fell off a cliff after a few days and some stores were refusing a trade in on it.

Crysis 2. Still of the opinion that game has the right blueprint to be an all-time classic.

Deus Ex: Mankind Divided. Really wish there was more of this franchise en route, but that’s doubtful.

The Last Of Us, Part II. Despite my gripes and issues, I can’t help but acknowledge that I do enjoy the game for what it is. I simply wish it had lived up to my crushing expectations.

I know. You will so damn rarely hear anybody say anything positive about da2. Even tho the combat system was way worse than what we had in DA:O, it was still pretty tactical when playing on the highest difficulty, and tactical combat is what i enjoyed most. This was before i discovered Divinity Original Sin, tho. If Divinity came out before DA2, my opinion on DA2 might've been very different.

Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite wasn't too bad. Once I got used to the different effects of six gems and found my favorite character to play, it was really fun. It's online match works very well, too.

Yeah it's actually a really good game. Underneath those roster choices and soulless presentation there's some great gameplay lol.

Might have had a fighting chance if not for DBFZ eating its lunch.

If we're going based off of reviews then Legend of Dragoon, Mario Kart 64 (GS), Days Gone. Warcraft III Reforged; I've enjoyed it but I'm also disappointed in it. Gameplay is the same being a remaster but the constant disconnects and crashes suck!

Agree. If Capcom makes MVC4, I'd like it to have at least 40 initial roasters with the character models that are as good as the Square Enix's Avengers character models (the gameplay is mediocre, but I think their graphics are decent enough).

Dragon Ball FighterZ has made good use of MVC mechanics such as 3v3, combo-based speedy battles, and flashy presentations. MVC4 should take revenge on DBZ for that.

I guess Halo 4.

Even though it's not in the same level as Bungie's Halo games, I still had fun playing it.
