Bloodborne might be one of my favorite game stories of all time, so that.
Bloodborne? That game doesn't have a story. That game has LORE, and there is a massive difference between lore and an actual story.
Nope. You are confusing story for narrative, there is a difference.
Story refers to the overall movement and framework- it has two components, the narrative, which is the active movement of the story (what most people commonly refer to as the story or the plot, or what have), and the context, which provides the framework for the narrative to move in (which is colloquially called backstory, or lore, or what have you). There is also characterization, but let's pass over that right now, since it is tangential to the discussion.
Bloodborne may have a weak narrative, but it has an incredibly strong context- overall, it averages out to being one of my favorite game stories of all time.
