For Microsoft, it would have to be the 1st party games. The lackluster line up of games this gen is disappointing.
That said, with the recent acquisition of at least 4 critically acclaimed studios, this may not be the case next gen.
I’m hoping for some more co-op games on Xbox. I game with my dad, so the lack of many co-op games this gen has disappointed me.
Ironically one area where i think many companies falter, nintendo exceeds. I like how honest they are. They publicly announce game delays, and often give reasons as to why.
They are also very upfront and direct about their download content, and are pretty spot on about the release dates.
Nobody wants a rushed game, crashing at launch after just a few minutes of play or necessitating a download patch just to get it up and running. Nintendo games just work and provide hours upon hours of enjoyment for their fans.
What needs work? That eshop lol. Maybe provide the amount of downloads or relative sales--not the numbers but just something for better organization. For someone that doesnt game that much its sort of daunting seeing hundreds of games with a clunky interface.
Going along with that train of thought i think nintendo should tighten up on quality, unless of course all these games are worth being there; its starting to resemble the apple app store.
Nothing really to speak of, but I will say MS should improve on it's exclusive department at the very least but they sure have done an amazing job with Xbox One X system.

Yeah agreed... good post.
The eShop definitely needs work, especially since the Switch has sort of become the default place for Indies (besides PC). Some quality control would be nice, for sure. The sheer number of games showing up on there makes the real gems hard to find.
I wish MS would of allowed me access to certain games without the use of a credit card ffs.
EDIT: Also change the cases back to the way they were for the last 20yrs before this gen started.
Nintendo could start using all the awesome IPs they have and have ignored for years and years.
They could also either do better online, or revert it back to being free. As it is now, it's shit.
They could also make a better account that is tied to all your games, so we don't have to buy the same games for their every console. The Wii / Wii U / 3DS VC thing sucked.
And lastly, how about at least a small pricedrop on your games after 5 years, no?
Nintendo:
-Better online
-Better storefront (that classic streaming crap is just no)
-Bring back some IP's
MS needs more breakout quality new exclusives but I guess they're now well aware of that with all the recent acquisitions.
Okay, they need to make sure they don't botch their reveal and offer the strongest next gen console at the start of next gen with at least one or two new must have games at launch along with of course Halo: Infinite is sure gonna be nice for the launch.
Valve Corporation
I can name a few things that could be improved
Yes, we know that the Steam Machines have silently died, though the fact that its death was silent should allow for a re-launching of the Steam Machine initiative. Iunno, i've grown fond of MiniPCs myself and i find them to be a lot more reliable than "gaming" laptops tbh. What i think could make the Steam Machines attractive is if Valve were to actually bribe companies into supporting the PC platform under the condition that they also develop Linux versions of their games, since SteamOS is a Linux-based platform. To further clarify, I think Valve should be paying bribes for games that would otherwise never get a PC version.
TF2. Although very old, it is still one of the most popular games on Steam. It is also an argument as to why peple should support the Epic Games Store considering the game's multitude of problems. I'd like to think that Valve should try to fix the game if user retention is their goal, especially with developers abandoning Steam for EGS
Big Picture Mode feels like an obvious beta for probably the longest time. Also, the Daisy Wheel keyboard needs to make its return for controller-based typing
Sony.
Revise their refund policy to be more like steam.
Try to provide a first party exclusive fighter. MS has KI, Nintendo has Smash.
Attempt another exclusive FPS, preferably like Killzone 2.
Be less responsive to the vocal minority "me too" movement ex. censoring games.
Sony should improve on better UI. The PS4 UI is horrible.
Future Sony Series
I think they should bring back Jax and Dexter and Ghost in the Shell. I think they are both owned by Sony.
Yeah, don't really have a preferred company. I have a preferred platform(PC) if that counts, and I'd love to just see more games in general. :D
MS should get much better singleplayer games.
Nintendo should get their shit together for online.
Sony should get more genre variety in their exclusives.
Valve should release a new game already.
Epic needs to stop being themselves.
If Nintendo would get 64 games on the Switch, with online multiplayer. 30 player F Zero X. The team that does Sega Ages. They do good work. Virtua Racing was reworked to run in 1080@60fps and it plays great. Wave Race 1080p@60fps. Sounds good.
