What are your top 5 TPS of all time?

Hello friends,

Many of you think i only talk about FPS games but this time lets discus what are the top 5 best TPS we played in our lifetime. shall we? not counting games like Hitman, MGS, Splinter cell that focus lot more on stealth than actual shooting.

its hard to make third person list because theres very few good third person shooters available. most of them are cover shooters that are boring anyways.

Realize it’s not a dedicated TPS but has what I find to be some of the most satisfying shooting in one I’ve played.

I'm currently playing the TPS known as Remnant from the Ashes, its a great game, and too hard for the OP, as you can see from his casual choices.

the thing is, Gears really killed TPS genre. every TPS now is cover based shooter.

when COD ruined FPS, we still getting amazing FPS too despite having dumbed down FPS but when Gears ruined TPS, it killed the genre.

Yeah I noticed after gears 1, every TPS went that way. In saying that, gears is probably my most fav TPS.

I'm sorry but what's your definition of TPS? Is it any game that's third person with guns? Not sure Alan Wake belongs on your list.

Not enough to list it in a "best" list.

In my opinion, Gears 1 was pretty fun. Then 2 came and was exactly the same. Then 3 came and was exactly the same. Then 4 came.. you get the picture. I was already tired of Gears after I was done with Gears 1. Tried Gears 5 on PC via gamepass. Graphics aside, it was just like going back to 2006. Took me 5 hours before uninstalling, I think.

Yeah, could be compared to CoD, I guess. CoD 4 was pretty fun. Then MW2 came and was the same. Then next one came and was the same. And here we are today, several samey CoD games and even remakes of said samey games later. And they're still at it.

I remember when i was kid, played max payne 1 on my old computer and i was blown away by it. the whole slow mo and bullet time ability was just pure gold.

Resident evil 5 is actually better than RE4. I cant stand RE4, it was just bad.

@ghosts4ever: Say Mafia is held up by it's writing and setting than it's gameplay, which is bad in a lot of respects.

Kinda where Mafia 2 fails imo. It casts aside the romanticized gangster in favor of emulating gritty-nitty Goodfellas with F-bombs everywhere presenting us with a protagonist you actively want to punch in the face.

Not like Tony Soprano where he's a massive asshole who's childlike in some respects, aspiring (and failing) to be good, e's just a big unlikable prick don't want to play, sitting alongside another fat, unlikable prick who never shuts his fucking trap for hours on end.

No, you asked if I had played it. I haven't played it enough to include it in a "best" list. Played it a little at a friends house as a kid. Played it again sometime later, don't really remember when. Never completed it.

I've always thought it was pretty cool. But that's about it. Don't really feel like playing it now. New one looks meh.

there no new max payne yet. unless you are talking about Max payne 3 the latest one and it was by far best rockstar game. mechanically it was perfect.

"Best Rockstar game" doesn't say much as their games usually aren't good. I want a Chinatown Wars sequel. Or some new IP. Can't bring myself to play their boring slog games like 3D GTA and RDR.

speaking of casuals. all you play on xbox ie dumbed down PC or PC for casuals.

all you play are racing games. with some shitty open world games no one cares at all.

true but you should try Max payne 3. its linear shooter with best mechanics in any TPS game.

No regen health or forced cover shooting, just go slo mo, dive, shoot which is very satisfying.

At least Cup's bad tps, makes you circle strafe.

Theres the difference.

In gears of war, you take cover, your health regenerate, you shoot.

In mafia you hide behind wall, dont have regen health. hiding behind wall and cover are 2 different things, when you crouch or hide. you dont see what is happening behind you. Mafia 1 was realistic game with recoil.

Mafia 2 does have cover shooting but it still feel good there unlike other cover shooters.
