Here are some of mine.
- The Last of Us is the best Uncharted game.
- I prefer EarthBound to Mother 3 (both great games though).
- As much as I love all Persona games up from 3, I still can't bring myself to say P5 tops P4G.
- Majora's Mask is my favorite Zelda game (and my personal favorite game of all time), but Ocarina of Time is great too.
- I couldn't care less about PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds or Fortnite. PUBG, while fun, is kind of the COD equivalent of battle royale games. Fun for like 20 matches, plays well and looks good, but also incredibly generic and doesn't do anything to stand out. Fortnite at least tries to stand out with its artstyle and base-building mechanics, but again, there's nothing it does that makes it super engaging in the long run.
- Although the community is incredibly toxic and cringy, when taken as a game itself, I don't think Minecraft deserves the bad rep it gets.
- As much as the Wii U was a bad piece of hardware, I still love it as a fun little console with some great games and I don't think the Switch would've been what it was without the Wii U.
- Pokemon Sun and Moon had cool ideas from a presentation/story standpoint, but their gamplay felt like the dev team looked at FFXII's hallways and thought that would make a cool overworld. They sacrificed almost every bit of gameplay fidelity, the online system sucked, whereas X/Y/OR/AS's was good, and they removed Triple Battles. Why?! Don't get me wrong, I still think they're good... but... not that good.
- FFVII is the best glorified minigame collection to ever exist. (Still love the game though).
- I think motion controls, when done right, can add a lot to a game. Just look at Splatoon and Metroid Prime 3. When they're done wrong... we get crap like Star Wars Kinect.
- I appreciate all the time and care that was put into Stardew Valley and I love the presentation and music, but I just cannot get into it because literally EVERYTHING in it is so tedious. Inventory management, the energy meter, having to walk across your entire town over and over and over just so I can make some progress in the mines from day to day (why no fast-travel?), actually being able to talk to the residents of your town, let alone getting to know them, etc.
- Crash Bandicoot, while I want to love it for the presentation, visuals, music, and animation, I just can't enjoy it because of the controls and camera. Which idiot thought making a 3D platformer with a d-pad would work? The gameplay (the most important aspect of a platformer) wasn't really made better in the remake, and whenever I'm looking to get my 3D platformer fix, I just turn to one of the 3D Marios, Banjo-Kazooie, or A Hat in Time.
