In above video you have a comprehensive compilation of everything that Watch_Dogs fails at. The list is huge and considering its development cycle and the fact it has been delayed further by 8 months makes it somewhat pathetic.

In the video below you can see how empty and devoid of pedestrians and traffic Chicago is on PS3/X360:

Sorry if old & already posted. I simply can't fathom this game's success. I don't bash System Warriors who bought it and enjoy it because deep down I know the game might be enjoyable and functional, but wow...the list of fail is so huge that the sales are completely unwarranted and undeserved. 4 million in one week. The Witcher 1 & 2 sold 6 million in 6 years!!!

People are enjoying it and it sold well.

You need to get over it and move on, obsessing about other people having fun when you think they should not be is good for you.

-It's Ubisoft

-Cross gen; developed on 6 platforms simultaneously. Possibly they were stretched thin (?)

The complaint video is the pc version lmao.

GTA5 is a lot better but I acknowledge that some things are the way they are because of design choices. A lot of other stuff is just lazy though.

I'm just saying the the general tone. I hate people who complain about things when there's just plenty of information out there about it.

People also have a tendency to not look outside the box.

Logical deduction would conclude that if the game was shown at that state at E3 2012 the game must've been production for quite some time. It means actual coding and what not must've begun in 2011.

While the next gen hardware existed certainly at that point. Devs most likely did not have dev kits yet ( as seen watch dogs isn't too good a looker for next gen).

COmbine that with being developed for 6 different platforms you have your answer as why the game is A) Just solid B) Not mind blowing and C) nothing insanely outside the box.

It's a great game, sure it isn't perfect but it does a lot of things well and it's fun.

The 2nd video is the PS3 version, of course you expect shit like that on a last gen system. The PS4/XB1 and PC version have plenty of traffic. Seems the guy in the first video is going out of his way to find flaws. A lot of those "flaws" aren't flaws just design decisions.

Tap left on the D-pad i think. It switches views when in a vehicle, there's two third person views, one front bumper view and the from the wheel view.

I don't agree with the first video, a lot of the points he put out are design decisions like not shooting out of cars is stupid to expect, it's as if he wants it to be GTA. A lot of the issues he points out are also prevalent in every video game like render distance.

For example the area with the invisible wall over the gate is a story area, have a feeling that's why he's not let in. I don't know what version of the game he's playing but i didn't get half of those issues and he seems to be going out of his way to find those issues.

ubisoft games always have good initial appeal and then fall flat. Assassin's Creed 3 starts super cool and 30 minutes in falls completely flat and the pacing grinds to a halt. I've got Watch Dogs for free from NCIX but I am definitely not expecting much.

It really is sad that people are resorting to using some biased video instead of forming their own opinion. I'm glad I got the game and didn't listen to something like what is said in the OP. The game is great.

GTAV was built for last gen consoles. Watch Dogs was built for PS4/XB1/PC and scaled down to lastgen consoles, this type of shit was bound to happen. This game is the type of game that should be either played on nextgen consoles or PC. If you're playing it on PS3/360 you're doing it wrong IMO.

Spot on both posts

It's like people are still butt hurt about the graphic downgrade and just want to seamlessly bash the game cause Ubisoft ran over their dog when they were a kid. Watch Dogs might have gotten a graphic downgrade but what game hasnt?, at least it didn't turnout to be another Aliens Colonial Marines.

Haven't played it and probably never will, but if I had to guess?

Meh, Ubisoft.

They probably have a slew of great ideas that won't be realized until the 2nd or 3rd game in the series. It seems that these days, their 1st entries in a new IP are always just a beta run. Boring, repetitive, heavily flawed, but with some decent ideas here and there.

Terrible videos in the OP.

Can't believe all the bitching people are doing about this game. I actually rented it today after getting the day off from work due to not feeling well and I have been really enjoying it. Graphics are fantastic and Chicago is very lively (I am playing on PS4). I love walking around hacking and have been suffering the same issue I suffer with Elder Scrolls games where I keep getting sidetracked rather than doing the main story.

Also, that first mission was pretty damn epic!

Watch Dogs fails at main missions. There's few of them, they're trite and consist of filler, and not much more than a tutorial.

All cross-gen games are going to be like this.

The game has been developed with 10 years old hardware in mind, think of only 512mb of ram available for graphics AND AI, physics, etc.

Did you watch the video? Many aspects of the game seem to be in an alpha state. Highlights of the vid for me were a fence disentegrating after an npc bumps it with her hand, fire hydrant water spraying through the car and the trains with magical brakes.

GTA has none of these issues.

People need to learn not to hype everything to the heavens, because it never reaches that far. Esp. since the game is also for last gen hardware as well. Yeahhh... TRUEEE GEN NEXT BRO.

Well I'm not going to shed a tear for the sacrifices made on the 7th gen consoles. Ubi was happy to get the business, gamers were happy to delay new hardware, and everyone knew there were going to be compromises.

As far as the rest of the bitchfest surrounding the game, people need to move on. It's not perfect, and there were definitely some areas in need of improvement, but it's not a bad effort. In the end they put out an open world adventure game with some novel twists to the formula. That's what I expected. The vitriol some have is due to their own inability to contain their expectations to a reasonable level.

I sometimes wonder if some people here actually ever get down to the business of enjoying a game...

Sure. GTA is also made by the kings of the genre. A studio that gets to work on one game only, for as long as it takes, and gets an unlimited budget.

If you were expecting Rockstar quality in a new IP from a studio with the output of Ubi Montreal, then that's your fault for not being realistic with expectations.

Not even a complete list of the stuff that's missing...

* No car deformations
* Glitchy character animations (run against a wall with a car park very close to it for some hilarious stretching legs)
* Some of the security camera are not placed properly and when you rotate them you can see the object it's attached to clip through the camera
* Your character clips through the car if you crash at speed into water.
* if a NPC is blown on top of a car by an explosion and dies the corpse spins round
* if you flip a NPC car upside down the NPC instantly appears beside the car rather than getting out
* The flipped cars back wheel spin around and stop randomly after
* There are no waves or choppy water that I've seen
* Steam hurts you character but does not hurt him if you drive into in in a car
* People refer to your bike as a car (GTAV did something similar though)
* Some of the balcony/fire exit areas on the side of building you can fall onto from above, then you are stuck there because you can't jump or climb out

Then you can add all the stuff mentioned in that video on top of this.

This is what you get from a game with 6+ more months of polish LOL, what was it like before?

That second video is false, or just a really really unfortunate glitch.

I own the PS3 version of the game and it runs perfectly fine, and there are plenty of cars all the time.

So a $250 million budget is required for decent destruction, proper collison detection and realistic train braking?

I watched a friend play it today and it looked great to me. He got in a really intense chase with another player, one that wouldn't be out of place in a top tier action movie. I'm looking forward to playing it when I get the chance.

People are enjoying it and it sold well.

You need to get over it and move on, obsessing about other people having fun when you think they should not be is good for you.

Bingo, I don't know if it's the start of the generation but a lot of gamers are more sensitive than ever.

Give it up enjoy what you have or don't play it at all.

Noithing is stopping people from waiting a week and vetting out all the research that needs to be done to buy a game,

Most likely he was excited for the game and decided to wait on reviews etc before purchasing. Now he's pissed because he's not going to have any fun and he's also pissed of it's success because he knows this means more half-assed bullshit games in the future.
