Its Obsidian's best game, by far.

And no, I actually like most of their games, and I finally like KOTOR II over the first, it just had to be finished first.

Alpha Protocol was a complete misfire however and a great disappointment.

However, I do think Bioware is overall the better studio.

People need to fully play and experience Demon's Souls before Dark Souls to understand this. The fact that so many people vote dark souls (multiplat may I add across 3 systems) as the best geme and it wasn't as good as Demon's is a testiment to the outstanding gem that Demons' souls was/is.

Even tho most of the voters who spoke up for Dark S never touched Demon's S it still managed take no. 2 spot on a poll for the entire generation of games. Dark was a great game, but Demon's was legendary.

1 - Dark Souls (gameplay and the layout of this game was flawless)

2- Fallout 3 (the game world made me wonder what was out there when i was low level, and got me excited every time i ventured a little further)

3- Skyrim ( improved on almost every aspect of oblivion, so much to do and see... plus it had dragons!!!)

4- Mass Effect 2 (this one had very little rpg elements in it, but it was extremly refined... the possibilites for the endings were amazing)

5- Valkyria Chronicles (the strategy required for each match made this one very addictive.. so much that it got me hooked on the demo before getting it. That doesnt happen too often.

( i feel bad not adding the witcher 2, but i honestly enjoyed these games more.. its probably because i played it before they patched up the combat system)

It's all relative. I would say that from a gameplay standpoint, Dark Souls is made enough improvements over its predecessor to warrant being a better game overall. However, the atmosphere in Demon's Souls is better. The claustrophobic-ness of Latria Prison is unmatched. I think all the levels in Demon's Souls had better atmosphere than their Dark Souls counterpart. Valley of Defilement was better than Blight Town. Boletaria was better than Undead Burg. Tower of Latria was better than New Londo Ruins. But that's just the atmosphere alone. Almost all other gameplay mechanics are better in Dark Souls.

If youve played Demon's Souls, then you'd know Dark Souls is cakewalk.

Why? Too many bonfires that shortens the pathways so people tend to die less and farming rewards are bigger compared to collecting souls from Demon's.

Hard to leave some games off (like Mass Effect) but those games were the most enjoyable to me and the ones I spent the most time with.

I think Dark Souls beat Demon Souls with many of its environments such as Darkroot, Anor Lando, the Duke's Archives, New Londo Ruins, and especially Ash Lake and Lost Izalith.

Why nt? Well it's because you like a game he doesn't. There is a certain group of people here who cry about anyone who like what they don't and doesn't like what they do. Adobe being one of those people.

I put 50 points on Xenoblade chronicles.

That game played like garbage.

How so? Bad motion controls?

Plays like a cheap PC MMORPG. Auto attack, waiting on Cool downs to do skills about the only movement you'll probably do, and you're pretty much forced to use the main character because he has key abilities you need to win a good deal of fights, for some reason i don't know if it was my set up but the AI could not use those key abilities. The quests in the game rely on gather this and that item that are randomly generalized on the fields or kill this many of that. Most bosses are recolored enemies, and worst of all.... story plot get's shoved aside by the power of friendship and love.

Yeah Demon's Souls is waaaay better. But Dark souls wasn't bad. It reminds me of Final Fantasy 6 and Final Fantasy 7. 6 was so much better but 7 will always be more popular because it reached a wider audience.

Totally disagree. The world layout, improved game play mechanics, and limited spells usage easily make it better. The game play feels weightier and adds poise. Plus people aren't able to spam consumables for unlimited health and spells. In addition Dark Souls had phenomenal DLC with the Artorias add on.

Yeah that's the problem with some people here on the forum if they don't like someones opinion they just pretend that it's taboo.

But I somewhat understand that Adobe asked this question. Fable 3 wasn't as good as Fable 2 but still the game is almost the same.

Ah, Demon's Souls and Dark Souls. Forever overrated for being "hardcore" and other silly things like that. Not to say its bad or even not great, mind you.

Haven't played Mass Effect. But I think the Soul games deserve to be above the likes of Elder Scrolls, Witcher and Dragon Age. I'm okay with the result.

I have owned Dark Souls for the longest time and still haven't played it. Apparently I should get on that asap.
