Meh. I don’t think that it’s going to be a port myself but honestly I really wouldn’t care if it is or not. I thoroughly enjoyed Smash for Wii U and will purchase Smash for Switch regardless.

The game looks and plays the same over and over. Also melle is getting all the attention from community all the time means Nintendo needs to step up finally and release a better game

Personally speaking, i wouldnt care less about a smash title. Bayonetta 3 or next Zelda, maybe metroid 4 also are games worth more attention imo than another one of the same game worse than the one released 15 years ago.

Real talk, has Nintendo figured out that whole online thing yet?

@AzatiS: Melee gets all the attention from the community because Smash games don't all play the same. :P

Idealistically the new game would take more notes from Melee.

I know. Personally im not into smash, i think as a fighting game is ok for a while with friends etc. Im more into deeper executions and timings ala Street Fighter 5 etc so personally speaking, remaster or a new smash .. whatever!

@AzatiS: Smash definitely requires less execution practice for the combos but makes up for it in other variables. For example, it has way more vertical play than Street Fighter has, which makes sense; SF is a game of grounded footsie.

Edit: Well, that is to say the window of execution you are given in Smash Bros. is way higher than other fighting games.

I don't even care if it's a port or a new Smash. If it's good, I'll buy it, I need a good fighting game to play on the go anyways and ARMS didn't do it for me. Also why in the hell anyone wants to bet on an account? I value my personal account more so. Such a silly bet I tell ya.

I know, but at this point, it's useless to whining about it, Sony already said they won't do cross-play and you might as well go buy a PS4 to play with those people on the system.

I wouldn't even say it's accurate. The last three Smash games have played differently. Melee being the deepest and Brawl being clearly the most... I guess 'casual' is the only word I can think of.

Its how game mechanics work that i dont find pleasing as well. Not how technical it is alone. I never understood what is so fun about this game since the original. And iver played them all, some more than others but still. I had the very same experience more or less and im into fighting games big time. Not playing them seriously anymore like i used to but it was because of fighting games i became a gamer in the first place. Street Fighter 2 , Tekken , Art of Fighting 2 to name few i was playing in arcades as a kid

@AzatiS: Different strokes for different folks. It is a different type of fighting game. More vertically inclined than most. Personally I never got into 3D fighters like Tekken. I used to love Tekken 3 when I was a kid but could never get into the juggling of it when I was older. I would love to try again now and see if I could get into it this time.

Some underestimate the power of Smash coupled with a well-received console. If it releases in the holiday window, Nintendo should expect huge things.

I think if it was a port they would have said so right away. I mean, they did it with all the other Wii U ports why would smash be an exception?

And if it's an enhanced port, so what, people love Smash.

Nintendo should get serious with Switch so better bring new titles. Gamespots top 10 for 2018 is not looking great to me

That said, you're not a big nintendo fan so what would look great to you? I'm pretty happy as a switch owner in 2018. South park on the go is amazing. Wolfenstein II this month and tennis aces. I got Kirby on my shelf waiting to be played. I'm not exactly starved for games on my switch. But that's just me. I understand others think different.

Naive question, as I don't follow Nintendo or Smash regularly -- do they use a new engine for each iteration? If this Switch version uses a new engine, that would mean it's new/not a port?

Did you check the top 10 ? Its not if im a fan or not, its what i see as the best options right now for 2018 overall.

Traveler Octopath looks good but thats not enough and we are not sure if game will deliver. Its something i would play though whatever its score and final quality.
