I’m going to say True. This game really makes you feel like a super hero. The combat is incredible, and Insomniac really nailed the main campaign. The story flows and the boss fights are really fun. The pacing is great. There are some good side missions too featuring other villains / side characters. The mini games could’ve had more variety, so I’ll dock it some points for that. But overall, best super hero game I’ve played. How about you, SW? Is Spider-Man 2 the best super hero game you’ve played?

No poll? I guess you already knew how this was going to go lol.

I don't have a vote considering I loathe "superhero" games for the most part. The only 3 I have ever enjoyed were Hulk Ultimate Destruction, Wolverine Origins and Marvel Ultimate Alliance.

And Spiderman is one of those I loathe the most, so i'd say no its not the best as it was a glitchfest upon release and has cutscenes.

@lavamelon:

I really liked that game a lot. I never payed for anything in it, only played the free parts but it was fun. I would have to say from what I played in spiderman on PS4 pro was the best super hero video game to me. I haven't played spiderman 2 or miles morales. But for the world of spiderman in marvel they did a good job, it would have been better if it had a darker tone to it like the 90s cartoon. Maybe the series will get darker if the merge the wolverine game somehow together.

All i see about it is how woke it is. When the dev thinks of pandering instead of gameplay, we have a problem.

Excellent game that I certainly loved but not sure if I could say that it was my absolute favourite. I also loved a bunch of others such as:

- a number of Capcom fighting games

- X-Men: Mutant Apocalypse for SNES

- LEGO Marvel Superheroes

- Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles arcade game and Turtles in Time

Maximum Carnage!

Seriously though, loved that game.

Xmen arcade was awesome, as well as Infamous games. Hard to choose.

Spider-Man 1/2 are quality games, I won't deny that, but they're ultimately repetitive and have a limited impression on me. They devolve into typical open-world schlock. I wouldn't even consider them among the top 10 superhero games out there.

I'm more partial to:

  • The Batman: Arkham series.
  • Infamous: Second Son
  • Prototype (technically anti-hero/villain, but still a "superhero" type game)
  • Freedom Force vs The Third Reich
  • Midnight Suns
  • Guardians of the Galaxy
  • The Darkness 2 (again, technically an anti-hero, but a superhero type nonetheless).

Also I feel like there was a realy good Punisher game out there at some point? But I'm not exactly sure.

Yeah that's a good one.

Been a few years, is it still active?

City of Heroes is also another good superhero MMO.

Maybe. If it isn't, it can be brought up in the running. The original Arkham was really good and so were all three Infamous games.

Spiderman 1 was one of if not my favorite Sony PS4 1st party game. I found the combat to be quite engaging and fun. Swinging through the city was a blast, and the story was captivating enough to make me want to see the end which is rare these days. I can't wait to play Spiderman 2 after I finally finish up with a few other games.

Admittedly haven't played it and don't intend to. Just doubt it'd crack my top ten, even if limited to Marvel stuff only.

Every game in the VS series is still a blast to play, even the soulless MVCI. Also some solid beat em ups and action platformers over the years.

It's up to the individual, but for me it's the Batman games.

I have the first Spider-Man game on the PC and I didn't like the combat much and I although I only played the beginning bit, I don't like how Spider-Man only really does small jumps. He supposed to be able to jump like 15 feet in the air.

Plus I really only liked Spider-Man in the 90s. When there was just one Spider-Man and the clones. Now there's too many and the multiverse thing and the totem power thing... It's just BS now.

I believe SM2 released on PS5 is the best superhero game ever.

The game delivers a an emotionally driven storyline that immerses players in the world of Peter Parker and Miles Morales.

It explores their personal struggles and the weight of responsibility, creating a narrative that resonates with players on a deeper level.

SP2 also offers a seamless blend of exploration, combat, and web-swinging mechanics that make players feel like they're truly embodying Spider-Man. The fluidity of movement, acrobatic combat abilities, and the extensive range of web-slinging maneuvers create an exhilarating and immersive gameplay experience

What's more, the game takes full advantage of the power of the PS5, delivering stunning and highly detailed graphics. From the bustling streets of New York City to the surrounding river, SM2 offers a visually breathtaking experience that brings the superhero world to life.

The game also features a roster of iconic supervillains from the Spider-Man universe, each with their own unique motivations and abilities.

The engaging boss battles and intense confrontations with these villains provide thrilling and memorable moments throughout the game.

I like the fact that the game allows players to make choices that impact the outcome of the story, making it a more immersive and personalized experience. This element of player agency adds depth to the gameplay and encourages multiple playthroughs to explore different story paths.

I have played Batman Arkham series on my PC and PS5 and they come no where close to SM2 in terms of narrative, visual quality, and immersive experience.

85 OpenCritic score .

@shellcase86: Great! I forgot to mention traversal in my post. That was a mesmerizing experience on screen as well.

With a remarkable 90 overall Metacritic rating, Marvel's Spider-Man 2 is the best-rated title in Insomniac's Spider-Man series.

Moreover, the game is ranked in the 99th percentile of games scored on OpenCritic, which is quite an achievement. Just look at the scores - mostly 9+/10.

https://opencritic.com/game/15052/marvels-spider-man-2/reviews

Mostly diehard PC or Xbox fans who didn't get a taste of this masterpeice dismiss the game as sour grapes.
