This is possibly the worst next gen reveal in history

Ms and Sony in particular have been stretching their next gen console reveal for months.

First some random specs, then real specs, then a controller picture, then the console itself, then hands on with the controller .... And spoiler alert, No freaking price yet!

Wow, this is pretty frustrating. I am not dying to buy a new console but this practise is quite irritating and off putting to be honest. The hype train this time is more annoying than exhilarating.

I really miss E3!

@2mrw: console generations are coming to an end, it's just upgraded consoles like ps4 pro/xbox one x.

@drdessstruction: of course they were garbage they're basically just updated ps4 and xbox one, they're trying to blend generations together now.

Now that you mention it, they are dragging it so much but I'm hoping July MS and Aug SONY are the climax events. If not then yeah, it's pretty sad.

I'd say yes, it yes been the most underwhelming generation jump, i'm sure as with most consoles, as the generation goes on they will bare fruit, but as far as launch goes, the days of Sega VS Nintendo are long behind us.

Nothing here is killer, must buy, blast processing. It's two soulless looking monoliths trying to impress with flash and failing miserably.

VR is more impressive and exciting.

Absolutely the worst in history I miss E3 too.

Without a trade show like E3, all they've really achieved is advertise their products to people who were already interested in their products. I know pretty much nothing about either of the new consoles because I have no motivation to go hunting for what would have been revealed at E3.

Seeing as we are in the middle of a global pandemic and real life events and expos are not an option.... WTF were you guys expecting? The consoles are not out until the end of the year. They need to slowly release info to keep people talking about their products.

Microsoft has yet to do their big first party reveal. I hope we see price then too. Just 6 more days. Neither has revealed price yet because neither will want to take more of a loss than they have too, but also not give other room to undercut them. I think this game of price chicken will be exciting to watch when it happens.

obviously price is going to be an issue for both consoles. if it was 399$ 299$ they would have said it a long time ago.

Nintendo Switch did a great job.

Might be dumb but I miss those E3s where there were plenty of random people uploading footages of new games. I know streaming is practical and all but it kinda feels soul-less in certain ways.

Depends on what games you are into,but What has been shown up to now for me personally Xbox had 2,ps5 1,and Ubisoft 1(watchdogs and ACV already shown)

The only thing "bad" about the reveals are how they're spread out over such a large amount of time, but with everything crazy happening right now the world I don't see that as a negative exactly.

It's gotten beyond ridiculous at this point. Both of them are scared to go first on price. Sony's reveal would have been great had they ended with the price and release date. Instead they'll stretch it out to August or September now.

Microsoft will do the same shit on the 23rd.

Not trying to be a jerk on this but, we are in a freaking Pandemic as of now and this is way more serious than gaming itself! Some of you should understand by now both Sony/MS may or may not make it towards there goal to launch next-gen consoles and if either one of them say next year, than some of you should understand way. Like @BassMan pointed out, releasing little info is the best course of action due to world crisis and most jobs aren't fully operational. Normally we do get announce prices in June/July but the fact covid-19 cases started to rise again, its going to be a while before we could hear any prices. I don't personally expect MS to announce price of XSX this coming Thursday.

If you all really miss E3, blame covid-19, but E3 itself is a shadow of its former self and most of the gaming publishers now rather do their own show it seems. I'll be surprise if anyone really wants to come back for E3 next year if no vaccine isn't out to the public.

Definitely the most boring. But I'm a PC gamer, I don't have to care.

That's not my point tho. Console launch is moving ahead despite the pandemic.

It is how the reveal is being dragged to death. That is totally not related to the pandemic.

To me PS4/XB1 were less interesting as far as the actual systems go. I like the look of the new designs (yes both) and we may finally see reduced load times. They don't have many interesting features... but I don't recall any interesting features that the PS4/XB1 launched with.

In terms of fanfare and showcasing, MS has failed to produce any gameplay footage and I don't feel like either had a cool show to showcase their new console and all its features and its hardware. They still have some time.

Considering the pandemic, I can't say I am all too surprised by the slow drip of info

But I do expect a large info dump trailer/ad at some point to sell people on the consoles.

I'm one of the rare few who's been enjoying this. It's a change of pace. I'm so used to E3 and other conferences, but I'm good with how things have progressed. Hoping the Xbox show on the 23rd is good.

um what has every gen leap means?

going from 1 teraflop base ps4 with crappy jaguar cpu to 10 teraflops gpu and a cpu that equals 54 cu's in the ps4. then you have a 100x speeds of there storage with no to little load times. then add new controller with new features then add a tempest chip for 3d sound the ps4 used up cpu to do sound.

how much more do you want in 7 years sense the ps4 came out?
