What 'gamer' would even think about playing this on a console anyway.
They could have been 480p and it would be fine. It's only the PC version that concerns us.
It's time to write off these consoles as viable main platforms they're falling too far behind for their ridiculous fees.
Why did you need to make two separate threads about this when there was already one thread discussing both of the games?
Anyway this will definitely be a PC game for me, will be one of those games that I'm sure will test my 780 for once.
The powah of the next gen. Very soon you will be hearing the lazy dev excuse or the resolution don't matter.
If its 900p on PS4 what a fail. They said it will look identical to pc version (i understand its marketing but 720p isn't anywhere NEAR identical lolol) and we see 720p? hahaha. I bet Dragon Age 3 is also 720p on the bone and 900p on ps4, fk this im getting both on pc, no way im playing another blurry mess a la BF4.

Where does it not say it's identical?
Just put the PC version at 900p and boom It is Identical to the PC version.

The game is probably running on medium with couple of settings like particles on high. How can you even compare that to Ultra and call it identical? Add 720p/900p to the mix and its like 1 gen behind. Then add mods to the pc version and it becomes unfair to even compare.

Just stop. Its going to be 900p at 30 fps. That alone is a big difference.
Lets not even get into reduced quality settings.
So another generation of consolites arguing over who got the nicest smelling piece of shit when it comes to multiplats. More things change the more they stay the same.
Do the Xbox One owners have to psych themselves up with every new game release and pray they at least get 900p... then get depressed/angry when the 720p/792p(wtf) bomb gets dropped. I don't think I could take it.
Then you have Hideo Kojima being a total troll by first saying it's the same don't worry, then saying a slight difference then boom 720p. Trollolololol.
Xboners really got fucked today
They can't catch a break...
I don't know, it's pretty disappointing to find out that 3 new PS4 games can't do 60FPS despite cows saying that is necessary when Tomb Raider did it, and it's also disappointing that Witcher can't even do 1080p standard.

................Not being able to do 60 FPS on an exclusive game for your console is understandable, perhaps the games graphics or technical abilities pushed it to the point where some sacrifices had to be made; but generally speaking, all those games you're trying to point out MOST LIKELY have been rendered at 1080p.
Where as, we have certain exclusive games for a console rendered at 900p, or 720p; and the frame rate is only 30 fps, and sometimes 60 fps. But take note, there is that ONE GAME that is hitting 1080p/60 fps as a launch title - but even then, it was achieved by severe graphical downgrade and removal of certain technical capabilities that was supposedly "revealed" as "real-time graphics" to the unaware public.
But what's WORSE, and this is the part YOU DONT UNDERSTAND, is IF a multiplat is CAPABLE of hitting 1080p/60fps on a specific console, but another console - of the same generation, and at a higher price - cant render the same 1080p/60fps; then it is a bad sign that the core hardware of that console may very well be, lacking.
I hope that it clears up some confusion you, or anyone, may have.

playstation fanboys showing a double standard?
that's 'par for the course'.

Only if resolution matters to you. For me I could give less than a shit. I've played the hell out of Titanfall beta at 792p and loved it. The PS4 is superior to the One in specs and its clear. I stand by the claim that both systems will continue to get optoimized like hell and games will look better, but there will always be a gap performance wise. Game quality wise is subjective as I feel the One is well ahead of the PS4 there. But resolution wise I'm seeing 900p for Watch Dogs and Thief and 720 for Witcher. All 3 look like quality games, but I'm not giving up Halo and Gears of War and Quantum Break so that I can play the same game at a higher resolution.
Thankfully I have a beast PC to play it maxed out at 1200p so I don't really care. But 900p isn't THAT bad.
It's been all round bad news for the X1 in comparisons these last few days though
This looks about right and will be the normal going forward.
Don't see what the big deal is, if you bought a setup for resolution you would get a PC.
You cannot see the difference on anything less than 65" at normal viewing conditions.
Anyone buying a PS4 over Xbox One just for the resolution is talking shit.
You buy it for the games and the best game this year will be Titanfall and unless you want a PC the Xbox One is the only place to play it at its best.

I can tell the difference between 720 and 1080 on my 23" monitor and 60" TV. After 4k you will need a pretty big TV to see the difference.
Totally agree about console resolutions though, if you really cared, you would be on PC. There is just no question about it.
Majority of gamers probably don't know anything about resolutions.
LOL playing the Witcher on consoles.
Not all of us spend thousands of dollars on a PC.
Leave us be.

wait
what does that mean? does that mean you are a pc gamer who spent less than a thousand on their pc - like myself?
or does that mean you play on consoles?

I find the difference fairly obvious, especially in games with long render distances, it makes a difference in BF4 for me and will probably be the same for Watchdogs and other open world games.
I don't think anyone actually cares about the resolution, it's more the point that the cheaper console is running games better and is looking like it will be consistently the better console for multiplats for the foreseeable future. I think that's pretty fair to be honest.
@silversix_: bf4 is hardly a blurry mess on ps4
its blurry as hell, not a mess but crappy looking. 900p+post processing AA and we go some blurry action going on
LOL playing the Witcher on consoles.
I hope the pc version has proper controller support this time around, I hate playing darksouls with a mouse and keyboard.
The only 900p game I have played on the PS4 is BF4, and that looked really good to me. Again resolution does not matter to me when I play on consoles. I can only really see the difference when I game on the PC, where I always want to have a native res, or else the picture takes a huge hit in PQ.
@silversix_: it's not blurry. Witj the amount of bs you let out on this site you think you would run out. Yet, you never do. Amazing
