The top 20 must play games of this generation(Console)

So make a list of 1-20 and i'll count them with points. -20 points to the first game on your list, 1 to number 20. I'll add them up in a few days. There are plenty of top 20 lists out there on various sites, just trying to get an overall thing.

Also, lists are like crack to me.

*Due to time constraints I didn't play it for much of the later half of WotLK and then only the week before and after Cataclysm. The game is nowhere near as good as it used to be, not even close (Game design wise; quest design is better). But it's still an amazing game. If WoW doesn't count because it technically started at the end of last generation, then take it out and add Oblivion at #20.

and that's a game that has been in my to-buy list for quite a bit. I just can't tell if it would be my cup-of-tea or not. Lately I've been shying away from RPGs and have been obsessing over shmups.

Which shmups? I was obsessed with them a few months back after playing a bit of Ikaruga. I bought Mushisame Futari 1.5, EPSGaluda 2 BL, Crimzon Clover and then the Western shmup Jamestown from steam. Jamestown is my favourite by far, followed by Crimzon Clover. Everyone says the Cave games are the best and while Futari certainly is fun, I don't understand why it's so highly regarded.. I've yet to play Galuda 2 yet. What does everyone see in Caves shmups?

Well I dont want to hype it too much, cause then you will be let down :P. It is not perfect, but the small flaws it has didnt really bother me. They are flaws a lot of JRPG's have and are arguably part of their charm lol. I like BK: Origins better, but both are awesome games. Severely underrated and undersold.

Crimzon clover is A LOT of fun, but I haven't checked out jamestown yet. I'd really want to get 3 buddies together so I can local co-op it since it seems to be more of a 4 player game.

I'm a fan of treasure - ikaruga and radiant silvergun..I've got ikaruga memorized like the back of my hand, but I'm not so hot at RS.

I love how you can invest 30 minutes into it and in that 30 minutes you can beat the entire game....or get wrecked...it's not as time consuming as other genres that I've been into.

the scoring and the mechanics. the eye candy is nice too. I can't really tell you what it is either...but I'm addicted. In my eyes they are the best as well..it could just be how the mechanics in each game work. The chaining + rank + extend balance and how the spreads/patterns flow.

Yeah that's what I love about them as well. I'd still be playing Jamestown and Crimzon Clover if my cheap wired-360 controller didn't just break on me. Both of those games are two games I can just jump into for 10-20 minutes. I can't just jump into Futari that quickly but when I do I usually spend an hour or two playing it. I love going for the 1cc runs and high scores, despite not being amazing at shmups (though I don't spend near as much time as I'd like with them).

I highly recommend Jamestown. I love the vaunt mechanic and how the ships and beams/bullets/lasers 'feel'. But I also absolutely love the theme, music and artstyle. You've made me remember just how fun it is to play.. Next thing I'm buying is an official 360-wired controller now.

As for Crimzon Clover, I imported a copy of the game for $45 AUD, but haven't opened the packaging yet. I said to myself that I wouldn't until I finished the second level. I was getting close until I ended up buying Jamestown; also my laptop would have trouble with CC (and the last boss of Jamestown also), there was just so much on screen.
