We already know about the conference though :| :PWouldnt we know about a conference coming so soon? I really hope its true! I am interested to see if Sony can do the unthinkable and make me buy a PSP 2 before a 3DS :P.

[QUOTE="GeneralShowzer"]The real next gen!!!!! joking But it's kinda true, the 3Ds is like a Wii, gimmick based overpriced underpowered trash .R4gn4r0k
Yes the 3DS needs more power. Battery power that is
With Wifi off and 3D on, it has a battery life of 8 hours, with Wifi and 3D both off, its battery life goes up to 10-12 hours. Both of these are beyond reasonable. I wonder where all the battery life hate comes from.[QUOTE="R4gn4r0k"][QUOTE="GeneralShowzer"]The real next gen!!!!! joking But it's kinda true, the 3Ds is like a Wii, gimmick based overpriced underpowered trash .charizard1605

I wonder where all the battery life hate comes from.charizard1605Nintendo's site with the specs for the 3DS says that for 3DS games it will have a battery life of 3-5 hours, presumably with 3D on.
And for DS games 5-8 hours, presumably in 2D.
Dependent upon brightness settings and operating conditions.
The 3DS launches before E3. They can't leave a vacuum for the 3DS to completely take all the mindshare, they need to let people know they'll be competing.[QUOTE="ultraking"]
why would sony reveal the psp2 in january? wouldnt that be better saved for something like E3?

I'm assuming they'll reveal the hardware and some showpiece software, an Uncharted Portable, a Call of Duty for the West or Monster Hunter for Japan if they're clever. As well as a vague release date like "Holiday 2011."
But a launch line-up, release date and pricing won't be shown until E3.
My primary concern about the PSP2 is its ability to create an identity for itself, especially in the West. I think the built-in 3D of the 3DS has done a great job of selling the device as a unique software platform to developers; almost ironically, strong development support then helps sell the 3DS to consumers who may not even be terribly interested in 3D. Also if the 3DS is, in fact, considerably weaker than the PSP2, it will probably have noticeably lower game development costs as well (helping to attract unique, exclusive software).I don't want to jump the gun here, but the Wii does not seem to be attracting Nintendo's attention right now. They seem to be giving their all to the 3DS this year and the first party lineup they're already announced is pretty intimidating.
Monster Hunter alone could sell the PSP2 in Japan, but I don't envy the marketing team that has to figure out how to make the PSP brand popular in the West again. Even an exclusive Uncharted would probably be snubbed off by many gamers as a mere spin-off. It's going to be difficult.

The system will take about 3 1/2 hours to charge and then last about three to five hours on a full charge. That's with the 3D effects activated. The company guesses that people who keep the 3D turned off could get as many as eight hours. Turning off the system's wireless via a switch, lowering its brightness settings or even running it in a dimmer power-save mode will all help the machine last longer. The system charges off of a power cord or while sitting in a plugged-in "cradle."

I dunno, the way they're talking about the PSN makes me feel that the new handheld might be DD only :?charizard1605Getting the same vibe, if so I'm not jumping on the bandwagon.
