It wasn't as powerful as the psp mind you, but it was still a step forward, which is something that the wii didn't really deliver with.

I think the Wii might have been a way for Nintendo to refill its cash coffers so that it could afford to enter the hardware race with Microsoft and Sony in earnest again. I think they will do anything they can to get into the multiplat club again. Contrary to last gen they actually have money now and can afford a system powerful enough to get the multiplats ported to it.
No matter how many 20 million sellers Nintendo develops themselves they want the license money on as many 5mil+ sellers they can.
If they look at how the PS3 and 360 balances casual and core markets and armed with their own experiences with the Wii they could deliver a superb system.

Quite frankly, it is. But Nintendo's smart to release a new console now - they will get an early start on the competition, which they will need next gen seeing as how all systems now have motion controls.

Well, I already have a PS3 and have no intention of giving up on it until the next console cycle, which maybe in 2015.
Not surprised if Nintendo do show a new system, the Wii is on a decline none existent third party support and Nintendo aren't even making many core games for the system. Nintendo have done brilliantly with the Wii but it's about time they gave us back the Nintendo of old and we have a system a core gamer must own.

No, you don't. But its pushing tech forward even though they could've gotten away with a much smaller size. Its nice though if they include HDMI TV outputs on it.
And I wasn't refering to the 3DS when I said that. 3DS has much higher quality games.

The 3DS is a significant step up from the last generation, and it was being criticized by many on this very board for being too powerful before the NGP was revealed. And that's what I'm saying- if we go by the 3DS, which *was* very powerful, then the Wii 2 will also be significantly more powerful than the Xbox 360 and PS3. It's only when Sony come in with their 1024 Cell processor powered PS4 that it will appear to be weak by comparison.
