[QUOTE="Jynxzor"]Personally doubting this, it's not often consoles get announced and then slammed out the following year.web966The 3DS wasSo was the DSlite, DSi, and DSiXL.
The Xbox 360 was announced at E3 2005 and released November 2005.
The PS3 was announced 2005 and released in 2006.
The Wii was also announced in 2005 and released in 2006.
And announce a $5999 PS4? :shock:it would be hilarious for sony to say "next gen doesn't start until we say so" again :P

[QUOTE="Shinobishyguy"][QUOTE="charizard1605"] There is no Nintendo strategy- those guys are more random than particles engaged in Brownian motion.charizard1605pretty much. The wii is the only console they've released that wasn't significantly more powerful than it's predecessor. Before then they've always advanced technology, and if the 3ds is any indication, it looks like they're back on track. Yeah. People seem to forget that the SNES was the most powerful system in its time, the N64 was a beast of power, the Gamecube was miles ahead of the Dreamcast and PS2 and almost on par with the Xbox. It's only the Wii and DS that have been low specced compared to the competition.
if we want to count the consoles that matter, but technically we have to count the neo geo.

256 Giant Enemy Crabs On The Screen! If the 3DS is any indication (it's roughly 24 times more powerful than the DS), then why might be in a bit of a surprise with the Super Wii.

stop doing the ram thing dude :P
it is about a generation and a half ahead of the ds though.
Interesting. Some analysts had been talking about a Wii HD for some time now.
Will it be more like the Wii, or more like the PS3/Xbox 360 in terms of what games will be on it?
The sources say Nintendo wants to get the "hardcore gamers back." So it will probably have games like the PS3/360 but it will also have Wii like games to still keep the casual gamer.Interesting. Some analysts had been talking about a Wii HD for some time now.

I think they will do anything they can to get into the multiplat club again. Contrary to last gen they actually have money now and can afford a system powerful enough to get the multiplats ported to it.
No matter how many 20 million sellers Nintendo develops themselves they want the license money on as many 5mil+ sellers they can.
If they look at how the PS3 and 360 balances casual and core markets and armed with their own experiences with the Wii they could deliver a superb system.
[QUOTE="MrSelf-Destruct"][QUOTE="Timstuff"]More powerful than Xbox 360 and PS3 = 1/4 as powerful as Xbox 720 and PS4.Secret-FaceHaha. Yeah, when you put it that way.... Maybe this system is coming out a little too soon? I think so too. The Wii still has some fight left in it =P Actually it looks kind of dead. The same way Zelda appeared at the end of the gamecube..so does it also appear at the end of the Wii.

and 16 cells? Damn the Air Force is gonna be piiiiiiissed.
Nintendo's got a really high chance of dominating next gen, they've come out of the gate months ahead of everyone else with the 3DS and now the Wii HD or whatever. enterawesome
I don't know; Unless they have a really nice new gimmick up there sleeve for this new console -- lightning probably won't be striking twice.

Quite frankly, it is. But Nintendo's smart to release a new console now - they will get an early start on the competition, which they will need next gen seeing as how all systems now have motion controls.

Well, I already have a PS3 and have no intention of giving up on it until the next console cycle, which maybe in 2015.

To be fair, HD resolutions are completely unnecessary on such small screens.

The thing is... it's not the 3DS that is underpowered, it's the NGP that's overpowered. This isn't even an excuse- why in the world would you want or need HD resolutions on a tiny screen, or half the power of a PS3 in a handheld is beyond me.
Some of us want Uncharted and KZ on the go. Rather pay 40 bucks for a quality game than get crappy iOS or Android games.
And HD resolution? One simple reason - BECAUSE WE CAN 8)

You don't need that kind of power or screen resolutions to get Uncharted or Killzone. Also, the 3DS has iOS quality games?[QUOTE="ChubbyGuy40"][QUOTE="charizard1605"] The thing is... it's not the 3DS that is underpowered, it's the NGP that's overpowered. And I wasn't refering to the 3DS when I said that. 3DS has much higher quality games.
