The game awards the most disappointing show of the year??

Hello friends,

Prior to the show. a man named geoff keighly a former GTTV host and mountain dew drinker hyped this award show as greatest , biggest show ever with announcing more than 10 new games and one of the tweet he did that world will change etc

and even 2 days prior he said game that will get announced which no one see coming etc.

then awards happen. lot of terrible terrible games get announced. no surprised. we knew obsidian new ip will get announced and we get that.

the awards as we know are just popularity contest. what game is more popular and mainstream will always win. case in point in 2016 overwatch a half MP game with no SP won over DOOM and this year its God of war over RDR2 when RDR2 is far superior of 2. but whatever.

the biggest dissappointment is they were hyping it as equivalant to E3 or even bigger.

ubisoft announced colorful far cry 5 rehash instead of splinter cell ie what fans wanted. now i believe splinter cell donot exist at all. the best and only good SC franchise is dead. ubisoft will keep making far cry and assassins creed.

then theres global gaming citizen show a story of struggeled women to become a game designer. like anyone care in a show where they have to announce new games.

What are the people who make DMC think is cool?

I swear every game except the first tries so hard to be cool...cool looks, cool music, cool actors...it goes passed that straight to cringe.

To be honest when you have such a narrow and limited taste in games and every thing other than metro and hitman is the most overrated disappointing game of ever then how could you possibly have been happy with it.

and awards never represent best in gaming. the more mainstream is. more it got attention. majority of people attending awards and clapping and impressed by every footage are not even hardcore gamers.

Geoff does this every year. He has cried wolf a few times too many now, so I don't bother watching. Better to just skim through it the day after.

But I will say this show did have some actual nice surprises like Ancestor gameplay, a new super giant game and an Obsidian game. So this seems way better than previous ones.

exactly. show aim at casuals and non gamers.

majority of people on gaming forums are core gamers who hate these awards show always.

@ghosts4ever: you don’t get to decide who is a gamer or a non gamer. Someone who plays Fortnite and FIFA there money is just as good as yours.

Stop trying to act like some hardcore gatekeeper. These awards are for people play games. Love them or hate them it is what it is.

Announcements are just that: announcements.

Don't know as I've never watched an awards show before and never will.

TGA was good for me and I enjoy some of the upcoming games that are now on my radar. That said, it's only you Ghost4Ever that the show didn't deliver what you really want.

Also, E3 & TGA are two different events. Both are nothing alike other then games.

I think it was a good show, but ultimately overhyped as an event for announcing big new releases.

Man, all you do is crap on anything outside a handful of games. The developers don't know who you are, the show organizers don't know who you are... None of this was for you. No game will appeal to everyone, so the best way to think about this is the games shown were for the people who like the type of games that were shown. Should be self evident, but I guess it's not...

I really enjoyed the show myself. Devil May Cry 5 and Anthem both looked amazing and I’m very hyped for both games. Aside from the music in it the reveal for Mortal Kombat 11 was great. There were a few other really intriguing looking games shown such as Other Worlds. Geoff Keighley did a typically good job of hosting it as well. I would have liked to have seen more on Dragon Age 4 but at least there was a teaser. I think the only thing that bummed me out a bit was that there was nothing about Metroid Prime 4 shown.

It was the most competent show. As far as games go? Yea, pretty meh, at least if you are purely interested in AAA stuff. The indie selection was pretty decent.

I didn't watch it, and I had zero expectations. So it wasn't dissapointing at all. To my understanding, they announced The Outer Worlds there, among other things, so the show was good in my book.

Try to not believe in everything promoters say, and you'd probably not end up as dissapointed.

This is why people think gamers are a bunch of entitled pricks.

Oh yeah I was also very hyped to see that Marvel Ultimate Alliance 3 is getting made.

RDR2 is mediocre poo, and dont deserve any awards. Just because the game has few delusional fanboys dont make it good. Try to unnerstand that, op.

It might help if you check the user metascores for both GoW and RDR2. GoW leads by two points there. Players just did not much like RDR2, while pretty much everybody loved GoW.

@henrythefifth: Didn't a lot of people review bomb RDR 2 on metacritic though? I remember there being a thread on it.

Not everything is aimed at you, online forum gamer.

I never watch it because I don't care about any of these people and their opinions. I just browse the forums afterwards to see if there were any good announcements, and other than Joker showing up in SSB, it seems like overall it was a dud, especially since Metroid was a no show again.

I kinda enjoyed last nights game awards. CTR is coming back with online and MK11 is coming in four months time(also for the Switch). And my favourite game this year won GOTY. Yeeahhh BOI

You contradict yourself here. RDR2 is definitely more mainstream and popular than GoW and yet you complaint GoW won... it makes every damn sense, especially when I'm 100% sure you havent even played the damn game

They even hyped up Death Stranding like they were going to show some trailer for it. But it was a huge bait.

The show was excellent, you can't expect it to be like E3. It's a mainstream awards show lol.

I thought it was good. It was just a bit too long. Some of the categories were a bit rushed I thought. I didn't like that all the content creators were just Fortnite people.

Loved the DMC trailer, i think it looks so good ... loved the Persona / Smash surprise, nobody saw that comming, loved the Orquestra performances and i loved the fact that GoW won (even if RDR2 deserved it as well) ... the show was not a 10/10 nor a must see ... but it was what it was and i'm ok with that.

And everyone would beat you up. lol.

most of people in audience are just casual gamers. developers make them fool. they clap.

many people claps at fallout 76 and shout at E3 during presentation. now what happen after it released?? its most hated game currently.

did any game from smaller developer or mid tier developer ever won GOTY? absolutely no.

its all corrupt. its all paid. its all scripted. GOW getting GOTY was scripted. every one knows there accept audience.
