[QUOTE="double-r"]i heard forza 3 was shipping on 2 dvdAnnoyedDragon
Multiple disks, the horror, how will people cope with something that has been around since consoles began using optical disks?
Forza 3 shipping in multiple discs? What does the other CD contain since it's a non-story-progressive game? What does a disc having more space have to do with resolution... I would of taught people would of learned by now with the PS3...

We won't see anything like this used for gaming for a long time
z4twenny
thats what they said about dvd's when they started coming out, didn't take long for those to get filled quick.
yeah it only took 16 years to MAX out DVD /sarcasm , and even now most games don't fill a full DVD9,lolit wont work for gaming. Too much space. It would take years to develop one game that could fill up the disc. Plus the consoles would probably cost a grand or so.

Yeah, but as games grow, so will technology. Larger poly counts and what not will mean that this space will be needed.
I agree. Not to mention the hike in prices for games under that format. I mean, I already know the next platform games are going to be more expensive...but they shouldn't add more unecessary prices to our favorite hobby. I need game money for food too, man! :Pit wont work for gaming. Too much space. It would take years to develop one game that could fill up the disc. There's already huge MANDATORY installs needed for blu-ray video games. I could only imagine how huge the installs would be for something like this. That or like 10 minute long load times..xsubtownerxDepends on the read speed of the drive and disk i suppose.

Depend on factors like cpu disk read rateAND ram.

Which are way ahead in terms of speed, so it really depends of the speed of read disc.
What the hell would they use all that space for?

"No one will need more than 637 kb of memory for a personal computer."
Bill Gates
Who knows how much memory will be needed for tomorrows games.
MGS 7 will be a mini series with 16 hours of gameplay and 39 days of cutscenes. What the hell would they use all that space for?

If they started now they could probably have it filled up by 2023Wow, with all that space imagine how huge a gameworld you could make.
stepat201
i think this disc will only benefit kojima, you can expect MGS6 to be 4 hour gameplay and 10,000 hour epic cutscenes
As much as some developers want to have more capacity in the medium, I have a feeling that it is not a good idea.
One reason is because it could lead to higher development cost. More capacity means more things can be put in a game.
Nonetheless, it also mean more time and cost to develop games in the future.
Right now, as much as MGS 4 have used the full capacity of the Blu-Ray, DVD remain the dominant format as the movie and video game industry has proved.
If Wii and PS2 have thought as about gaming and the mass market, it's all about the functionality, not technology.
