It's about as opposite as you can get man. Ultrakill is a crazy high mobility FPS that requires accurate shooting and parrying. Gungrave is a tank like TPS where you don't really need to aim.

Yeah, for sure, opinions and all.

Idk, I've actually played both. One is a slick high speed FPS with great controls, tons of mobility, and level + encounter design that take advantage of that in interesting ways. The other is a tanky TPS where you mash square while looking in a general direction.

This guy seems to be a Gungrave fan, but illustrates it pretty well.

I'd say give Ultrakill a fair shake, but I know you don't like mkb controls.

I was actually talking about Gungrave Overdose but it's largely the same if not longer and more difficult. Guess I never played the first one... Either way, I probably jumped the gun in the comparison of the two games since I haven't played the game in question. I'll be the first to admit that you can't always get the feel for a game by watching a simple video even if it works most of the time. I've been trying to get some buddies to play Rogue Company which is an excellent game and they won't even try it since they watched some videos and think it looks like trash. The problem is that videos just don't do it justice, so perhaps it's the same with this game.

It's not that I don't like mouse and keyboard man. I use m/kb on my PC, I just don't like it on consoles. I feel that the two should be separate for obvious reasons. Maybe I'll check the game out on Steam and let you know what I think. Doesn't really look like my type of game, but if it has tight aiming and precision gameplay that sounds right up my alley, so perhaps I misjudged the game. Visually speaking it looks muddy which may have thrown me off, but I'm definitely not one to really give a shit what the graphics look like as long as the game has solid controls and a solid core. As long as the visuals don't clash with the gameplay and cause missed opportunities or force you to replay the level since you couldn't see certain targets it's probably a lot better than I gave it credit for. I'm not a fanboy of anything and I do love games with tight controls and precision aim.

Doesnt look like my cup o tea..... Personlly would rather play Ion Fury or Wrath if i want to play a retro/ lazy graphics fps.

Isn't that kinda what Shadow Warrior is? But yeah Painkiller Black is incredible

That looks insane.

Like many on here, I prefer the old Doom games. Doom 2016 lockdowns while getting health from enemies after qte them got boring quick for me. Just my opinion though.

I also agree we need another UT2004. That was a great shooter.

There's a lot going on there. Rocket jumping, parrying projectiles, using momentum to slide into wall jumps and extended dashes, ground pounding enemies Mario style, flipping coins into the air to later shoot for ricochet effect. All cool things that just slip by if you haven't already played it lol. Which is a weird way to present a game. On the surface just looks like a mad man dashing around and shooting shit.

My mistake on the mkb stuff, thought you legit disliked it as a control scheme, definitely understand wanting the separation in mp tho. Keep an even playing field.

Visuals aren't the prettiest obviously, but the resolution and compression of that vid do it no favors. It's actually very clean in game. Looks like a classic arena shooter in high res, so readability is great. Unless you choose the PSX settings which pixelate everything lol.

Man that sucks that they presented it in that way then. I never understood why devs try to cram as much as possible into a short trailer that flashes around and just shows things at 1,000 mph. I'll get on youtube and watch a better video of actual gameplay since that was over the top from the sound of it. The things you described above actually sound awesome.

Yeah I think the trailer is a product of guys who know how to make games, but not necessarily how to market them.

The game is breakneck fast like that most of time, so it's not misleading. But showing rapid cuts of play without giving context to what's going on, or even bullet points of what the game does differently, just leads to a nonsensical blur.

I'd show longer continuous clips that highlight the various mechanics in action. Maybe they're just saving it for a launch trailer tho.
