It's ridiculous. Gamers are gamers.... except dudebros.
Weeaboos aren't gamers neither!

We're all gamers, some of us are more involved in the gaming industry , we can weigh in on gaming matters better than others because we have more insight hence we can call ourselves the enthusiast or "hardcore" .... it's all semantics.
Personally , i call those who ain't involved in the industry and just play some streamlined games like CoD and stuff , casual. But i don't consider myself "superior" or sth .... it's just for differentiation.
I haven't seen that debate in a long time before you brought it up. People talked about it a lot when the Wii was current I remember. Haven't really seen anyone blame the casuals for a bad game since.. It's probably there still, but I really don't think it's "killing us" gamers, as you put it.
Hardcore gamer is someone who loves hardcore games. Casuals love casual games. It has nothing to do with how many games you play or how into a game you are. Also intermediate gamer enjoy in between, they like to be pushed some, but not ballz to the wallz.
Kirby = Casual
Yoshi = Intermediate
Donkey Kong = Hardcore
All three of those are pretty casual though...
Sure...
Well he's right. If DK is hardcore then Dota, CS:GO and Dark Souls etc are impossible games.
@shawty_beatz: Funny you say that, Donkey Kong Country is harder then Dark Souls. Im a Dark Souls pro.
This debate is always dumb cause someone may not be a "hardcore" gaming to a game you play a lot but they may put 20, 30 0r 50 hours in a game that you have no interest in, so they can turn around and call you a "casual" in that. It's just dumb.
Teh Hardcorez bruh.
I'm more of a Manti-CORE, because I play everything.
Huh....? Huh? No....? lol

Thank you, you're all beautiful, I'll be here all week. Tip the man at the door.
I find it humorous that some folks here call themselves "hardcore" games. Many of these "hardcore" gamers buy fewer than 4-5 games a year, don't have online subscriptions like PS+ or XBL, and some don't even own current gen consoles. I know many "casuals" who buy a game every month, own at least one current gen console or gaming PC and have online subscriptions so they can play online etc. What makes a person"hardcore"? Are they "hardcore" because of the games they like? Because games like Uncharted, The Witcher 3 and Quantum Break are casual games aimed at story telling rather than challenging the player. A person that is good at Splatoon or Rocket League is far more "hardcore" in my book.
@magicalclick: I think Indie games have declined. I remember back in the old days they use to make some very innovative games, now they all seem to be stuck making retro games.
Maybe that is because the AAA market has basically abandoned winning formulas and game designs in chasing the $.. Hence why we are seeing said demand..
